13B-TT swap
13B-TT swap
A guy I know recently bought a 13B-TT engine for his 2nd gen RX-7, without doing any type of research, he just decided to go twin turbo. When he found out how complicated it was, he wanted to get rid of it . Now i am considering to get the car, and have been doing some research, but I have not found quite enough info. There is a lot about the T2/TII engine, but not much about the 13B-TT. Is this a sensible swap? If yes, where can I find good write-ups and how-to's?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Do you have a particular budget for your engine? If you wanna keep cost down and have a relatively easy swap then a 13Bt is the way to go. A 13B-RE setup will be more involved and cost more than a 13Bt engine but will usually yield slightly higher power cause the intake ports are larger. The 3rd gen. 13B-REW engine will be more complex and the slight power gain is far outweighed by the cost and complexity. Doing a 13B-REW swap is more for the "wow factor" than anything else.
Most people ditch the twins and go big single on the REW engines, because the twins aren't that great. Some will even say that they just plain suck, I can't personally say that cause I don't have much experience with them. If you do choose a 13B-RE or 20B I'd go with a single turbo to make things less complex and probably better in the long run.
Everything really boils down to your budget though. If you want to do a 20b or 13B-REW swap the right way be prepared to cough up around 10 grand, which is what most people say it will cost.

The only thing more difficult about an rew than an re is the mounts. Someone is now making and selling them: http://www.nopistons.com/forums/inde...howtopic=53446
