Hey guys im rather new to T2's...(know more about 3rd gens) Well im considering buying a T2...Only problem is my buddy says that the 13B-T block is really weak and that it cannot handle more than 400 hp at the crank.... Is this True?

Are you planning to surpass that?&nbsp I rate it a conservative 400hp (rear wheel though) before running into problems with cracking tension bolt bosses and dowel pin holes; other will argue that this is the work of detonation, and the engine block can handle more power.&nbsp That's a serious amount of power - care to tell us how much power you're looking to make and what kinda set-up you're thinking of doing?

Lots of people on here get 400 rwhp (which is quite a bit over 400 @ the crank). I believe that the main differences (strength-wise) between the blocks are in the casting of the rear end housing. The 13B-REW's have a bit more material there, so it helps to prevent cracking.

Can it handle it? Yes. Will it be reliable? Probably not.

I have been making a bit over 400 RWHP in my 89 TII for a while and I finally cracked the rear plate a couple weeks ago. This is common. It was a combination of not having it tuned properly and heat soaking it waiting for my next run. I was drag racing...

87-88 TII's I beleive top out around 400 crank, and 89-91 TII's 50+ hp more, or something like that. If you are lucky enough to have a TII making this kind of power it is enough trust me... Can you say 11 second club???

Talk to Racing Beat they do internal strength/rpm mods and if you want 3mm seals you'll have to have it apart anyway.
