13B Re with T2 plates ?

13B Re with T2 plates ?

a friend of gave me a 13Re engine that he had in his garage for a while. Im looking to made a rebuilt out of it to fit in my Shell FC.

While looking at the engine i found that there was T2 plates instead of Re ones any idea why?

This is very confusing. How do you know the engine is a 13b-re? The major difference in the engine is the plate/irons. If you have tii irons then you essentially do not have a 13b-re.

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense...

Are you talking short block or long block with (intake) manifolds?
The 13B-RE LIM doesn't match the FC 13BT irons at all...

Sorry for the confusion it was 1:30 in the morning when i made this post i meant to Say Housing instead of Plates !

So why would there be T2 HOUSINGS instead of RE ones ?

That is because the exhaust porting on the 13B-RE housings blow. The port is small. If it has ever been blown, then it is hard to find other 13B-RE housings as well. I'm using REW housings on mine.

ok so no advantages or disadvantages of using T2 Housing .. ill keep it that way i guess since the housing looking good .. tanx for the info !

No, there is an advantage of the T2 rotor housings. It doesn't have the restrictive exhaust ports of the RE. I presume that was the keep noise down because the RE was on a luxury car (Cosmo).
