13b-re swap information confirtmation

Greetings,

I'm playing around with an idea of putting a 13b-re engine into my 90 gtu and would like to confirm that i have the right understanding of what is involved.

The reason i'm looking at a 13b-re as the price for one is almost the same as a 13b turbo.

The engine i'm looking at comes with the following:
- Uncut Wiring harness
- ECU
- Distributor
- Intake and Exauste Manifold
- Alternator
- Power Streering Pump
- Turbo
- All Brackets And Sensors
- A/C

I understand i can use my s5 n/a transmission and flywheel.
I understand i would need to get an intercooler for the turbos.
And possibly a new fuel pump.

What i'm not clear about is if i can use my s5 ignition coils and my s5 starter.

Would i need anything else to make this work?

Thanks.

p.s. I'm not worried about fabricating custom parts to make this work.

ditch all the electronics and get a standalone. you will need custom engine mounts and exhaust as well.

That the thing, i would like to use the original harness and ecu that comes with the 13b-re. So i see no point in switching it over.

you will see the point when you try and make it work.

the cosmo ecu does not work with the FC. wiriing it in really isnt worth it even on a 3 rotor, as you really need the cosmo dash harness too, making one sucks and takes forever. been there done that

the simplest way, actually is to use the FC ecu, and FC wiring harness and FC ignition, that works.

you use the FC trans/starter.

probably simpler to use the FC ps and ac along with the FC water pump...

Cosmo engine must have a front mount, turbo is up to you...

years and years ago we did one like this; s5 FC with 13b RE motor, fc ecu+fcon/wiring harness, hybrid s5 turbo (this was pre-BNR), custom fmic, rb exhaust.

it was actually a really fun car, powerband was totally linear, peaking around 8200 (maybe 270hp?), sounded great, handled great, one of the most fun fc's ive ever driven

...and you will need to upgrade the fuel pump, the N/A pump just can't supply the fuel. You will also need new oil cooler lines (we have them available). http://www.banzai-racing.com/products_cosmo.htm

Here is our 13B-re conversion, there are several pages of pics, which will give you an idea of what is ahead. We did a full TII swap first, so that we could have a stronger drivetrain to handle the power http://www.banzai-racing.com/br_projects_vert_pg5.htm
