13B-RE -> S5 T2 questions

I know a few here have done and finished the swap. i am now thinking if i should go the RE route or a jspec+port.

i want to know how the ones that did the swap worked around their problems. i'll list some that i know of, and hope this list will help those thinking of doing this.

note: i am also learning from this swap. if there's anything that you think i've misinformed, please do post.

1. the tranny problem has been outlines many times, and it's been worked out. but this is how i will do. since i already have a lightweight flywheel on my t2, i'll use that + the counterweight from the original RE motor and pop that baby back onto the stock tranny. that shouldnt be a problem since there were problems before.

2. the pipe from turbo to intercooler and the pipe into the throttle body. there is some clearance problems as it will hit the hood. i've seen a person (who?) that cut the supports of the hood to clear this problem. there's others that actually rigged the original pipes into shorter ones, made beads and it worked. i want to hear some of those that did it and how they overcome this problem.

3. oil filler neck. i am not sure of this, but it might get in the way of the sway bar. pls help.

4. the coolant thingy from top engine to radiator. will that also hinder the sway bar?? remember someone have to cut, and JB weld it, or was it the oil filler neck? pls help.

5. ECU. the original cannot be used with the manual tranny of the T2. you can make it work... but dont know what it'll take. everythings possible... i will stick with an EMS and solves lots of problems.
i was told that the stock T2 ECU can be used for the RE engine. but you'll have to make changes to the afm and tps connectors? have to confirm it.

6. as for accesories (p/s, a/c ... ) you can use the ones off of your t2 engine.

7. along with all these, i recommend getting a new radiator and replace all those hoses while you're at it. they include: oiler cooler lines, all silicon vacuum hoses, hm... FMIC, just need time and you'll figure it out.
what else?

8. oh yes, the dreadful rat's nest... i have not seen it mysself, but i think refering to the 13-REW FSM would help.

9. converting the turbos to non-seq. easy.

10. packs of beer and swear words in IGLOO comes in handy...

11. pls add to the post some more if you know. TIA

that's all that i have come up with... cheers.

If you are running Stand-Alone, DITCH the rats nest

Engine MOunts: fc3s.org or K2RD.com

Run the front cover from your TII, the OMP from the RE is not usable (AFAIK) with any of the current versions of the commonly used Stand-Alones

#3 you mean the Strut Bar? You will need a custom one made

Why do you need to run the TII front cover? Does it have to deal with the oil in jection?

I'm not sure, but a strut bar option could be the RB one since it is designed differently than most other ones.

Get rid of the strut tower bar.
Do you want the engine in or do you want the strut tower bar?

You seem to know what you're doing.&nbsp As for the water pump/thermostat "problems", you can swap over the FC stuff, and it'll all fit - no problems what so ever.
