13b-re question Need Advice

Hey guys, my question for the 13b-re is not how it goes in, but how to buy it.

Now I know they only came auto (correct?) so I mean, figuratively speaking, they aren't really able to be romped on too hard right? So seals. housings, turbo play, all that kind of stuff, will it ever be a real problem?

As far as WHERE to buy it, I know there are some shady sites, off the top of my head tiger japanese, but as far as the engine goes, shady seller or not, would the internals still be intact (because of it being auto) you think? ie. good seals, housing, etc etc.

I know as far as the 240 I had, it was auto with not that many miles on it, and did a manual conversion, pulled nice and hard, and i was never worried about that motor at all. Would the same apply here?

Getting back to where to buy it from, I'm really scared to just go out and buy from some website with a fair price, say 1400, without knowing some background from you guys. Do you have any sites that you recommend? Maybe not for the 13b-re, but I mean hey, if they've been selling good compression, ok seals, nice housings and everything on a TII engine, I'd feel more same with them over anything else.

Thanks for any help and information guys! It's more than appreciated

Don't worry about the engine being from an auto car. The only thing that's different because it's bolted to an auto is the rear counterweight and flex plate. You can just swap it for a stock S5 flywheel or use the auto counterweight with an aftermarket flywheel. As for buying the engine I went through forum member Japan2LA. He compression tests his motors which is more than I can say about any generic engine importer.

i don't worry about it being automatic, I'm actually happy that it was, just so things aren't as abused as say a TII motor. and ya, I've heard a lot about him. Thanks for the advice =)
