13b-re oil pressure sender

Another question pertaining to my 13b-re conversion.

What do you guys do about the oil pressure sender?

The OE sender is large, the re sender is much smaller. It dosen't seem like the OE oil pressure sender will fit the RE because of the of the cooler line under the oil filter. And the RE sender dosen't seem to be reading oil pressure at all on the stock FC gauge. I don't think its an engine problem.

BTW started the car for the first time tonight. Specs, Haltech E8, JSPEC 13b-re in a NA 90 auto base model. Verry heavy smoke thanks to my idiot friend, I told him to add a little 2 stroke oile to the engine through the manifold and he dumped half a quart in each rotor.

The JC Cosmo only had an oil pressure warning light, not a pressure gauge. That sender is just a switch. You need to swap in an FC oil pressure sender, or even better, fit a proper aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

Thanks for the info, so does an FC sender fit in place of the switch?

For Oil pressure I am fine with not knowing what the exact pressure is.

BTW do you happen to know what pressure that switch is set at?

Thanks,,,

I'm not positive, but I'd be very surprised if the threads were different. I don't know about the possible clearance issue you mentioned.

I wouldn't be if I were you. The oil system is critical on rotaries because it does a third of the cooling as well as lubrication. Oil pressure gauges aren't expensive but a rebuild is...

No idea, but in my experience with other cars, oil pressure warning lights tend to trigger a very low pressures (<10psi).

put your fc oil pressure sender on the 13b-re block . The block has an allen plug right near the oil filter location . if you look closely you will find it . Back it out and srew the fc sender in , hook up the wire and viola ! done . just a suggestion . Use an allen key socket with a ratchet and hit it with some liquid wrench or wd-40 for a while and then get at it .
