So since this was a N/A s5, does it use the N/A wiring harness and coils?

IT does use the stock S5 NA wiring harness, but modifications were made at both ends; interior-side, you need to match up to the new ECU (PowerFC); Engine-side, you need to make a few connectors to mate up to the engine. Maybe 3-4 need to be modified.

The coils were modified according to the Banzai-racing procedure.

Although I'm making it sound simple, this was probably the most time consuming and annoying process of the whole project. My recommendation: buy the damn PowerFC wiring harness adapter.

Thought I would update with a little progress done so far. I installed the tech edge wide band, and am rocking 15.1-15.5 AFR at cruising speeds without boost, only after I played with the power fc a little. That is coplex enough for a first timer, I was afraid to harm the engine by really messing up numbers but if you take it slow and double check your work it is not to bad. My next goal is to make the higher end a little more efrficient, but this I will likely wait a few more weeks to do. I have leather coming in from redline goods, as well as a few parts for the red to black interior swap. Pictures will be posted soon.

Thought I post a few pics, An engine rebuild is now in its near future, I blew out the rear rotor last weekend. It was odd, as the car still seemed pretty solid, I thought i had maybe fouled a plug, but after 10 minutes I knew the damage that was done. I think I will be documenting the rebuild and the porting. On the plus side, Im happy the engine went now, as I have new stage three bnr seq. twins coming in for it soon, I would have been pissed if I ruined them after a week.

So she finally blew, eh? Damn, Im sorry to hear that. How many clicks did you put on her before she said no more?

Do you think it had to do with the new fuel/timing map, or was it just something that was gonna happen anyway

nice wheels btw

Thanks bud, I got 20,000km or so out of it, about 5000 hard km haha and went trough 10 tires last season, so not to bad at all. Do you know what year of cosmo it is, I need to source a seal kit. I think it has something to do with a short on the MSD two days before it blew. I was downshifting to third and put the hammer down when it died, I thought I blew it that day, but found that the MSD shorted out. I think I may have cracked seal doing that, and two days later it broke loose. Just a guess, I wont know till its opened up. The turbos were spooling fine still so if im really lucky its only a stuck seal, it was idleing a lil rough but ran like a champ with the rear rotot blown (only ran for 10 min) so its hard to say, i will know more soon.

Also, if you want to run the cosmo turbos (or 3rd gen fd turbos) in sequential mode, you need to do more wiring, and modify your existing engine harness on the engine bay side.
What harness did you start with? FC harness? Asking because im about to drop a RE motor in also, and have the banzai's S5 to S6 adapter for the Power fc. Only difference is I have a NA S5 harness which I think will be better for me.

Ha yeab motor was just a stuck seal, right now i have the engine bay stripped to be paint matched.
Picked up a new origin stream body kit, flush mount headlights and a nice t2 hood.

Also have a spare motor for swapping/rebuilding purposes.
Im redoing the entire wiring harness, as well as black interior swap.

Trying to do as much as possible one smaller funds, just picked up a brand new full size pickup truck that wadnt cheap, so for now the rx7 is second priority.

Ill be doing all the work that doesnt require money, im looking to put about 5000$ more into a single turbo conversion with a goal of 500 rwhp

Will keep it updated as i go along

ok, sounds like using the S5 na harness and the S5 to S6 adapter from banzai's S5 for the Power fc will be the way to go. Already modded the coil so now I guess its time to drill the harness hole into my firewall (79Sa) and move on.
