13b engine seal kit???

I had intentions of overhauling my 13bna from my 1991
rex, and found that the engine reseal kit from the regular websites, mazdatrix, and atkins rotary
is more expensive than i thaught it would be.
do i need all the seals in the seal kit? and is there a less expensice way. while appartm i will be doing a mild port job, and replacing an oil seal that is causing it to smoke when cold. any advice would be helpfull, thanks

I bought my kit from Atkins, and am very happy with it. I can not tell you what you will need until you break your engine down. You will need to know what seals are out of spec, worn, or gone. Once you know what you have, then you can go find what seal kit will best suit you.

You can use regular O-Rings as long as they are the right size, but things like inner oilseals and inner waterseal should be OEM

You're going to need at least the re-seal kit. After the engine is broken down, clean internals and check measurements.
Don't half *** a rebuild or else you'll be doing it again soon.

First of all, thanks for the responses...Yhis will be my first rebuild, and while i'm sure i can do it, and do it well, I do not like to start a job without all the parts, or tools,
are there any specialty tools i will need, and what seals will i defaneatly want to replace, like boosted1205 said
i don't want to half *** this rebuild, so i am looking for
a cost idea of what i will be spending. thanks....

For starters, you will need a micrometer, inside micrometer, callipers, feeler gauges to check the parts you would reuse. If you have it torn down, you might as well get the basic rebuild kit. Atkins sells these on ebay for $450, not bad price. Oh, you will also need a dial indicator to check endplay and side plate surfaces. You will have to wait till teardown to see if you need oil control rings or bearings etc. This stuff can add up fast!
