From what I've researched, you don't necessarily need to but it is recommended. It seems that the turbo engines produce more torque, in which people love to use and abuse... which leads to worn out transmissions, if you use a n/a. The turbo transmissions were built to withstand the torque which is why everyone says to go with turbo transmissions for more vigorous use. But if you don't plan to push your car, than the n/a transmission should be fine. All in all, it depends on what you want to do with your car.

You would have to use the n/a flywheel and clutch to make it work. I am using my n/a drivetrain on my turbo vert. The main thing that breaks is diff mounts which i have all hardened drivetrain mounts.

well if you compare the whole drivetrain everything is alittle bit thicker. more durable. im doing the swap right now its all pretty easy, im just having a problem with harness.

Not really...

Use a TII transmission, it will not only resist abuses but will also last longer.

um, wow
and no, the t2 used a different harness, flywheel, driveshaft, differential, halfshafts..................transmission.......... ....need i go on?!
the short answer is yes, you can bolt up a t2 engine to an n/a tranny, with the right custom parts

lol....custom parts????? i didnt know MAZDA na flywheels and clutches were custom parts?? wierd!

as stated way earlier... its real easy to use NA drivetrain on a t2 motor, all you need is to put a NA flywheel and clutch of the same series (86-88 or 89-91) onto the turbo motor, and slide the weak, problem proned NA tranny right up in there

Just port the N/A, or sell it and buy a TurboII.
