Unhappy 11k miles,streetport &3mm seals

Well here i stand with a blown engine.

Had a street ported (mild) 3mm seals from Jeffy @ Rotary Power done back in Jan this year now 11 000 miles later broken. Also did silicone vac lines stage 2 hybrid turbo, baided steel coller lines, new Fuel damp.,comp motor mounts, lightened steel flywheel,

Broken almost all side seals and 5/6 3mm apex seals.
bent rotors slots for 3mm seall so clearance is too big.
dented rotor on combustion face

History
In order

Run-in of engine was good 1000 miles and under 4k rpms no issues there.

Also notice Oil pressure was low, just above 30 @ above 3000rpm and below @ idle.

still had main CAT on and could only do 4.5# of boost
told Jeff and tried a Manual Boost Controller and still no effect.(4000 miles)

Changed out cat to Racing beats Presilincer (already had catback exhast)(6000 miles)
Boost now went to 14 #...... Car pulled really good.
Throwing flames.. 1 - 2 ft long.
Big back fires loud like gun shots,

really loud backfire and then idle was shitty ie car could idle @ about 400rpm-600rpm but stall after about 30-60 sec.(about 9000miles)

car still very drivable,8th June my b-day take a nice long drive 300miles @ night
in 4th go to 14# @ WOT and there was a bog in power ease off and then find power comes back. and every thing is fine

@ end of drive going home feel car is not performing well, listen to idle @ stop light and hear a constant klunk in tune with rotation on engine, only below 600rpm
have to nurse idle,

General NOTES..
I always let the car and turbo cool down. I have long down hill slop into apartment garage 150yards and idle in to parking bay and run for about 2mins.

Always tried to keep below 11# when driving normally and opening to almost WOT
if pushing then went to 14 # , 2 or 3 times a drive.

Bosch Oxygen sensor with Automere A/F R gauge always said rich when foot on accelerator never stoich,

Always filled up wil 91 Octane from Mobil or 76

Thanks fully the 3mm seals never crubled and damaged the rotor housings and the turbo..

I will now always support 3mm apex seals if you are as dumb as i am and even if you are not cause it will save your more of your motor in the long run if you mess and do not make the appropriate upgrades to support 14 # of boost

14psi with upgraded turbo??? I hope it wasn't stock IC and injectors!?!?

I'm sure you were running lean and way too hot intake temps.

Uh... So let me get this straight, you had stock *cleaned* injectors, no fuel controller, and the stock intercooler at 14psi?

sounds like you need to take your vehicle to a tuner who knows what he's doing.. but that's just my expert opinion

They are telling you that you were running too much boost without enough fuel and probably too high of an intake temp. I'm no expert but that seems like a very good combo for detonation.

if you build another engine you're just gona blow that up too... with stock injectors and stock IC, 14psi is way too much for a stock engine and stock turbo

now you have a ported engine and bigger turbo at 14psi. which equals up towards 20psi on the stock turbo.

your current system is good for around 8psi. maybe 10 if you're lucky

you need four 720cc injectors and a S-afc. and to have it dyno tuned with a wide band o2. as well as a FMIC.

Aren't the intake temps going to be rather high regardless? Considering the stock turbo is being overworked? Just wondering if this is the point at which he needs to go upgraded turbo.

Damn, that's what my friend did too to his motor. 2, didn't learn his lesson. We rebuild it again and he has a haltech now, and he has over 10k and still running strong. Be smart and get some fuel mods.*-

For the corner seals, you could also try the earlier style solid ones, instead of the ones you are using now. They take more abuse.

Also sounds like your front cover o-ring was out of place or pinched, it should read 20-25 psi at idle, then 60 psi after 4000rpms atleast 40 psi at 3000 rpms....shoot with my street ported motor I only run 7 psi and usally never boost, I got 20 mpg the other day!!!!

and you will be safe up to 8-10psi... any more and you will need bigger injectors and a s-afc.
