10th anniversary numbering

How does an AE owner figure out what # of the limited production run of only 1500 ae's imported to the USA he has?

The last 6 digits in the vin will tell you when it was built. Mine is 622656 which was built 03/88. Go here for more info http://www.fc3spro.com/reg.html

But how does that info tell what number out of the 1500 the car is?

According to that website, all 10th AE models last 6 digits of the vin numbers go from 621393 to 624147. This indicates, I would imagine, 2754 vehicles built in that vin number range. So this tells me that 1254 other models are in this vin range. I may be totally wrong in my thinking, maybe someone can set me straight on this.

Without knowing what the actual 1500 vin numbers are for only the AE models I can't see how some people have determined what their roll out number is.

For example... A member of the forum, skir2222, stated that his is number 128 out of 1500.

It would be nice to know how to actually determine this number.

That is next to impossible to figure out.
I don't think even Mazda know - try their 1-800 number?

The ranges given were straight from Mazda.
I dunno why it's not 1500 consecutive numbers.
Maybe they made non-10AE FC's in between?
I know I haven't found a Turbo II that fits in between, so I have a feeling they are possible non-turbos...

Do you think the numbers are possibly consecutive and that out of 2754 AE's made, 1500 were sent to the US and the rest (1254) elsewhere?

This makes more sense to me if the vin number range that is mentioned is actually correct. I know there are some in Canada but I don't know if they originated from the U.S..
