10th Ann shift knob/boot.
10th Ann shift ****/boot.
Eh, my tenth ann shift boot is pretty messed up, so i'm probably just going to put a regular boot/**** on it. Problem being, since the shift **** and boot are one piece, i'm not sure the process of taking off the existing ****/boot. I've pulled off the assembly for the boot, where it connects, and i've turned the **** for a damn hour, but it's not comin off. Is there some hidden nut or trick i'm not seeing here, or is my ****/boot just weird?
I think there's a nut at the base of the ***, but it's hard to get to with the boot there... any help would be appreciated.

yeah
pull up HARD on your shift boot so that the nut is exposed
using a (17mm I think) wrench TIGHTEN that bolt down while holding the **** still with your other hand, then the **** should loosen off, then you can loosen the bolt off too and voila
