10th AE accelerator kick down switch

What the heck is this thing for? It's a switch that is engaged as the accelerator pedal is pushed to the floor. At first I didn't think it was factory and assumed it was a fuel pump cut off switchto help de-flood the engine, but I went to my Mazda dealership last night to pick up some parts and it actually showed as being there on some cars.

Here are a couple if pics:

Thanks!

It's for the AAS system. It makes the shocks firm up when you accelerate hard (anti-squat). A similar switch on the brake pedal does the same thing on heavy braking (anti-dive), and the steering wheel angle sensor does the same thing on sharp cornering (anti-roll).

Ah, ok, thanks.

Damnit, I was hoping it was a fuel cutoff switch... That would've solved the whole cutting out at WOT issue...

Oh well, thanks again.
