i drive an 86 N/a
its got a lot of problems i cant seem to find specific enough answers for
searching doenst seem to help
if youve got any suggestions, they are greatly appreciated

1. No 2nd gear at all, first is really hard to get into, and can only be achieved at a dead stop. just drove it, turned it off, started it, and now its like that.
2. when pressing on gas pedal, it will rev, and the tach will move, but it doesnt feel like the car wants to go anywhere, it feels powerless, and takes a little for it to feel like its accelerating...once again, does it all of a sudden.
3. terrible gas smell when at a stop and pressing on clutch, well, it only seems to be terrible when im on the clutch.
4. obnoxiously high idle, like 1500rpm
5. dashlights no longer light up, fuse is fine (replaced several times)
6. oil pressure gauge no longer has a function
7. windshield wiper switch....not even going there.

its all i can think of off the top of my head
thanks a bunch

1 sounds like a bad syncro
2 Slipping clutch
3 the clutch has nothing to do with fuel so you have a fuel problem regardless inspect all the components of the system and replace anything that is bad
4 adjust your idle
5 check the bulbs?
6 the oil guage always has a function, if you mean it isn't functionING then check that its pluged into its sensor and check the sensor if both are done and good replace the guage itself
7 talk to Icemark about having him rebuild yours he does that service.

Fix #3 before you drive the car any more. If it's the fuel pulsation damper, a common failure point on these cars, you may have a seriuosly barbequed RX7 on your hands real soon. Search for the damper, and you'll find fixes for it. Sounds like you're also going to be replacing the clutch, too. But fix that fuel leak RIGHT NOW.

Just give some basic info for starters before the guru's come on::
1-Clutch hydraulics-possible pilot bearing
2-Clutch disc slipping
3-Pulsation damper leaking, or leaking fuel lines
4-High idle cam still on-Thermowax
5-Replace headlight switch & possibly wiring
6-Sending unit, or gauge bad
7-Replace wiper switch

I have the same model, I dunno if you know but there is a recall on the car. it's for the fuel evaporative emissions system. Call MAZDA, tell them your VIN and they'll tell you if it's been fixed yet or not. The recall consists of the two vacuum hoses on the charcoal canister. Supposedly, when our cars were built, some dumb *** designer had the two hoses put on backwards. I got mine fixed and it got rid of about 80% of the stink. But I think that I need to change the charcoal canister since I waited so long on the recall
