That's a really nice oil pan, but how are you going to mount the engine?

Nice looking project,

I spent today painting my housings, just happens to be the same color scheme but a slightly different red.

I am using S5 TII plates, I was looking to reinforce the top dowl in case i get cracking, what sort of power/boost were you running for this to happen. My existing engine has several k miles on it at 460 flhp and hasnt cracked.......... yet although i am using S4 low comp rotors.

Don't worry according to rotatech it'll still be slow

But I bet you would sell a few of those relocation brackets if you made 'em

Well guys got the engine in today .... i cant beleive how easy it is to install the engine with the way the cross member works in there + with the tranny being able to rest on it aswell..... much faster than even with how easy it was before

you can see from the pics how it is mounted.... that is cold rolled 1/2 x 4 steel that i bent in a press to fit like a glove in the stock subframe

Overall the engine sits a little lower in the car by a lil less than an inch... and sits in the middle of the car unlike a stock FC

I think the way the 13bt mounts from the intermediate plate adds to the stresses on the rear dowel pin...... as compare to the 13brew mounting on the rear iron.... i could go into why i think that if anyone cares to know, becasue it is very logical.

But overall everything went so smoothly, i cant wait to get the manifolds done and start it up.... i wish the pics showed what the engine bay and engine really look like.

hopefully my racing beat lower shows up so i can start on the upper manfold.... also waiting on some schedule 40 SS to start mocking the turbo manifold..... going with sched. 40 to support the beast

the fun stuff isnt far off .... i like your guy's opinions and ieeas so let me hear them

BTW the turbo is just sitting in there... that is not where it will be or anything like that

Holy ****... another ND FC guy... damn didnt knww anymore existed..... stop by when your in fargo next

And this goes to antnicuk... i was at 350 rwhp on the track for acouple months launching very hard on full slicks... pulling 1.6xx 60fts ...... and for a short time at about 420ish wheel on the PT67, but i never launched hard ont he pt67....

I think because i had stock soft engine mounts and the fact that one was broke enhanced the likely hood that i cracked my iron.... i just noticed that it was starting to weep oil by the rear iron....

there is no comparison in the castings between the rew and an s5 or let alone s4 iron..... i just wanted to make a "more" reliable high hp rotary so i opted for the rew build... even though the mods it required for fitment, but i like fabrication so it was no problem

Damn Z! well well well i guess we all gotta meet up one day you ,me ,jrat,frankv702,argx,and a couple more fc guys breaking the 450 hp barrier. All the sudden people are building fc's like theres no tomorrow . I like that oil pan for sure i will be doing one soon too but to fit the stock location.

as for the build its going great man seems like you and aaron got that candy red color on lock.i though u said you were pinning the motor

besides the ports and the rotors man the build is gonna be a beast , i will take u a run for your money when its all said and done on both our parts........but with the stock rear end...lolol

AWSOME BUILD UP DUDE.i dont know why i never thought about mounting a REW in my FC like that!!!!! it makes perfect sense! i know exactly what your think on the rear iron mounting and yes it is pure logic, but it also makes perfect sense.the only thing i would change is the way you did your compressor housing compressor inlet.if i were you i would put some sort of radius on it to ease the turn that the air will be making into the comp. wheel.

p.s.make sure you dont stop at 20-30psi.keep going till you max out the compressor!!!!i wanna see some serious numbers.

alright... my racing beat LIM came today so i got to start some fun stuff

So you know this is a racing beat lower that is intended to be used with dual webber carbs.... Only a very few people make aftermarket manifolds for an rew and most are just replacements for the poor LIM of stock and use the stock UIM
and are so damn expensive

the intake flange is very different from a 13bt to rew FYI

and yes.... i used steel..... because it is hard to get aluminium around here.. and dont tell me that steel tubing is going to heat sink worse than a big ugly cast peice of aluminium because that is bullshit.

I tig'd everything too... it will be painted the color of the car when completed... i need to do the secondaries + fuel rail and find a throttle body and attach that.

runner length is very close to that of stock... 2" runners and a 3.5" surge tank
very very clean looking install

lol and i thought id throw this in there...... check out my assistant for mocking a turbo manifold...

I have a PRAC's study this weekend so no more progress till monday which sucks... but i need the money

Sitting next to the engine just makes that turbo look even more monstrous. Very nice looking manifold, btw. I just wish I could fab stuff like that. I'm jealous.

why no ITB's? seems like two of those attached to the LIM and a nice turbo hat would be pretty bitchin. anyway, i assume you're going to run one mammoth TB, how big are you going to go? everything looks great by the way!

www.fuji-racing.com

Their ITBs are designed to be attached to the weber carb lower intake manifold. Just a thought. Tweakit.net makes a plenum for turbocharging with the ITBs.

But for the cash you would have to dish out for that option your manifold is probably better suited. Especially since you seem to be operating on some form of a budget.

Meh, do what I do. When they say/post that, just ask them to show your their custom intake manifold that they made from scratch. Generally, this shuts them up. Nothing wrong with steel. Far easier to work with (in my opinion) then aluminum, easier to weld, cheaper, etc. My steel intake is actually 4 LBs lighter then the stock aluminum intake simply because the steel tubing is much thinner then the stock aluminum castings.

Are you going to be building any sort of plenum? I'd recommend that you do if you intend to drive the car at light throttle as it really improves throttle transitions.

Also, send me a quick PM so I can add this thread to the 2nd gen projects thread in the Archives. It would suck to see such a nice thread disappear.
