1 Rotor gone? sounding like a subie

Ok yall so i went to the local 7 meet this weekend. We all cruised back car drove fine and when i got off the freeway my engine was shaking like crazy all the way to the shifter. Car feels like it wants to die. Also it doesnt start up like normal pretty much hard start. And also car sound like a wrx boxer engine. Is the motor done or what? I have an s4 na.

Sounds like it to me, but I really couldn't tell you, unless...

you do a compression check.

Usually a severely shaking engine and sound like that, yep. Dead.

Pull the EGI fuse, and the spark plugs, have someone crank the car and feel the puffs from the spark plug holes.

Before you panic check that your primary injector didnt unplug itself. I happened to me once and it really sounds like thats the problem.

Ive had to replace my injector plugs because they have become brittle and break easily.

Same thing happened to me. My car started to have a lumpy idle, and on accel it really sounds like a Suburu sometimes. It'll hold an idle and start ok still, but you can find my compression check results above my avatar. I've decided to park it until I have enough money to rebuild. Not worth the risk of destroying the engine if it were to let go. I've been told rear rotors generally go first; it happened to both myself and a friend of mine.

Thanks all I will check the primaries. Did you notice a great loss of power as well?

It had very little power. I really dont think it would suddenly lose compression especially after a easy highway drive.
Maybe im being optimistic.

How's your idle weird? Could be tps but mine is significantly slower. And also bogs around 2-4k

The very first thing you should do is pull the egi fuse under the hood, remove both trailing spark plugs, and crank the car over. If you hear strong pulses out of the plug holes then the motor is fine. If a rotor is good you'll hear evenly spaced pulses. If you have an apex seal out you'll hear one strong pulse and two weak ones. If it passes this test then start looking into ignition or fuel issues. If it fails this test you've found the problem. Don't check anything else until you do this first.
