#1 Reason For Blown s4 ecu's?

Ok I am about to install the 3rd ecu in my 87 se....What is the #1 reason for blowing them? I am getting a massive fuel cut/ hesitation between 4.8k and 5k rpm. I was thinking it was due to a messed up thermosensor plug but am not sure ...... Any input would be greatly appreciated....thanks

#1 Mostly damaged by improper testing of things like the BAC or ACV with testlights.

#2 would be broken or damaged wiring or sensors

#3 would be hooking the battery up backwards

Normally when a sensor goes it takes the transistor and resistor with it leaving the rest of the ECU still functioning. Just things might not work correctly without the sensors ouput being read and prcessed by the ECU
