1 last P/S Rack Post

Ok, simple question. If I want to turn my P/S rack into a manual. I connect the 2 fittings with the red circles, and block off ALL of the rest, correct?

yup... thats my understanding.... might be good to pump out some of the fluid before you seal it.... (turn the wheel lock to lock).... but don't try and drain it completely...

Or you go to the Jyard and get a manual rack so it has a better turning ratio

Oh! An I thought the MORE fluid you have in it, the better. After all, you don't want any air in any OTHER closed hydrolic system.

Actually you are wrong. The manual rack has less turns. If the PS rack had less lock-to-lock turns, why would people ever even swap in the manual rack? Why wouldn't they just loop the PS one?

because the ratio of the manual rack makes it easier to turn. more turns but more leverage.

to my best knowledge i have 3 friends with TIIs and one of them came with out p/s from the factory and his has more turns lock to lock then the other two and we did do this mod. the cars are fine to drive where the only pita is backing up in parking lots
