1 Happy N/A!

This weekend, I changed her fluids (the tranny fluid was almost black, and the oil was almost 3k miles old!) and gave her a complete scrub down! As soon as I can find a digital camers to borrow, I will post some pics!!! I used Royal Purple tranny fluid (85w) and the shifter feel is less notchy. It was a flaming bitch to get the fluid in there though!!!!!

Hey, my tranny is sitting on my floor, what do you think about changing the oil while it is out of the car, is this possible, it seems like a hell of an easier idea to me! What do you think?

Good idea! I had to get a long funnel and add a pice of huge vacuum hose to it to get it to go in. Took me almost 3 hours to do it!!!! Hell yeah, put that stuff in there before you install it!

The longer the gear oil has to travel is bad. Cut like a 3'' section of fuel line, put it over the end of the bottle, hold the bottle right up to the hole, and squeeze like a bitch.

I have a thing that you can pressurize with an air nozzle to force it in, makes it super easy

OK, I'm putting it in while it's on the floor, now to see if I can find some decent tranny fluid around here.

I tried the 3" thing. The hose shot off and into the tranny! I had to drain it, and dig around for almost half an hour to get the piece of hose out of the tranny! I DO NOT recommend this plan. Sorry Felix, but it was a REAL headache! It also took a LOT of squeezing to get any fliud to go in.

Redline MT-90 or Royal Purple 70w-90w. It costs an arm and a leg, though. 9 bucks a 2 quart bottle. It took about 2 and a hlf bottles to fill the gear box.

Hey I want to change my tranny fluid too but never did find the fill plug. Where is it located at? I know where the drain is but can't drain it till I get the fill plug off wherever it is.

hah, I'll save myself the trouble and do it while it's out, but I have to fix my damn oil leak in my cooler line before I go worrying about the tranny.

Hey, Ryde, it is a square bolt on the driver's side of the tranny. It has exposed threads. I had to use a crescent wrench to get it off. And Felix, I guess not! Man that scared the **** out of me!!!!! "Where did the hose go...OH ****!...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" That was no fun AT ALL!!!

Yeah it will be easier, but it also means more of a likelihood of making a mess putting the trans in (provided there is an engine in the car)...

The easiest way to change the tranny fluid is via a vaccum pump. These are available at almost any RESPECTABLE auto parts stores(that means that autozone doesnt have them) It looks like a Caulk gun only it has a metal permanent tube canister with a piece of hose on the nozzle. You can fill your tranny up in under 10 minutes with one of these things.

Geez, It only takes me about 10 min to change the fluid- including jacking it up.
I have a nice little attachment that screws onto any standard oil bottle, engine, gear or otherwise, and has a little one-way valve, and about a 15 inch hose on it. You just stick the hose in the hole, and squeeze the bottle. It has a hose that goes down to the bottom of the bottle, so all you do is squeeze!! Cost 8 bucks at Canadian Tire. I remember losing my rubber gromet from the top injector.. Finally relized it ran down the runners... Took the lower manifold off and it was in the engine side secondary port a couple inches away from being inside the engine.
