Smile 1/4 mile time - actually pleased

Well every 1/4 mile thread I see in the 2nd gen forum is of someone disapointed or mad but I think I did pretty well.

mods:
thunderfabrications 3'' dp/mp
2.5'' custom alum. TID with APC cone filter
azenis 205/55/16 on all fours

don't blow stuff up mods:
fcd
walbro 255lph fuel pump
greddy 52mm elec EGT and boost guages
massive ported wg (to the edge of the stock flap)

my stock clutch is barely holding up and second gear grinds like a big dog. I launched from 4500 and I still bogged, maybe my stock clutch is slipping. Anyways here's the best time. All my trap speeds were within 1 or 2 mph of that.

R/T .834
60' 2.225
330 6.017
1/8 9.080
mph 81.72
1000 11.685
1/4 13.875
MPH 103!

well that's not a super great time...but with that trap I think I have 13.4-13.5 on lockdown with a nice ACT and some drag radials. Max boost was about 9-10 pounds in 4th

I for one are impressed!! those are about the same mods that I have. stock precat (hollowed out) act extreme pp and fd disk. fcd and 255 pump. ported S5 wastegate. its not running yet but now I have a general idea how it'll do!!
I work with a bunch of mustang nuts and they have powerdyne chargers. one guy can't break 13s so he will be first on my list of kills!!!!!!!

heh ok I forgot to mention I unbolted the y pipe from the downpipe, I didn't remove the catback but there was a good 1/2 inch of space between the two. I took out my spare tire as well. But other than that everything else I listed. I'm pretty stoked. My car weighed...2880 with me in it according to the scales at HRP.

no fuel issues? i was under the impression that with a dp/mp you need to have bigger secondaries w/ what you have already at least.

just the walbro fuel pump. My max boost is only 9 maybe 10 pounds when it's super cold. With just dp/mp a walbro and fcd should be plenty. When you start doing intake stuff though watch out! The stock s4 turbo wastegate is pathetic. Once you start doing more mods pull it off and port the wastegate.

SO how are you going to stop the slipping clutch? I've gone through three clutches in our 87 Turbo and We can't seem to find one to hold. Car is basically stock except for the Borla exhaust and K&N filter. Any advise would be appreciated... We want to bump the boost from stock, but not until we sort the clutch issue out...

you need either a more grippy disk (6puck or 4 puck) or a stronger pressure plate. I for one have a full faced disk (stock like) with the act 2600lb pressure plate. I believe that setup can hold around 400 ft/lbs of torque.

um, anyone that sells ACT clutches. I got a 9lb flywheel, disk and pressure plate from www.srx7.com
You should be able to buy the pressure plate seperate, ACT calls it the Xtreme pressure plate.

dump it at 5.5k but try your best to feather the clutch you will get a better 60 footer...good job nonetheless

heh yeah I tryed all kinds of launches. That was my best 60' time, trap speed, and ET all in one. I tryed launching at 6k just because I thought I kept bogging and wanted to see if my clutch would grab. lmao...resulted in a 16.2 @ 100 mph and the car got a good 30 degrees sideways actoin. One last thing I didn't list is my turbo has the dual scroll removed and the exhuast ports for the turbo matched to the same size. It increases lag a little from the stock s4 set up, but up top it really pulls hard. I was shifting at 7300 or so. It was fun and I can't wait to get some more mods and go back
