1/2 second Hesitation

Ok so, 1987 gxl, na, when I accelerate from 1st to 2nd normal driving it feels as it hangs up and very slightly lags for a split second between 17 and 20 mph, but if I hard accelerate throough all of 1st gear, not lil lag. But it does it cold and warm engine. Any ideas..oh and on start up the idle shots up then back down almost to stalling then idles fine until warm and sits fine. Start up takes 2 secs on cold. Any ideas would be awesome...I'm guessing tps?

Your description is a little vague. A lag between 17 and 20 mph? That's a pretty specific speed.... is that around 3800rpms in 1st? Search for 3800rpm hesitation.

Idle shooting up is normal, that's the Accelerated Warm Up system. Is your idle bouncing till warm?

It takes a little longer to start when cold? Check your Water Thermosensor, make sure it's in spec and the connections are good.

Well at start it shoots up to about 2800, then drops almost stalls and catches back up to 1800.., 2000 idles there drops to 1500 after alittle then slowly goes down to 750 as it warms. ......and yup went out and drove her normal, hung up for a half sec around 3600 tah 3800..

Then you likely have a grounding issue.

Jesus, did you replace your injectors with a water hose nozzle? Fuel pouring out the exhaust?
