Yo Yoshi, i'll help ya out this morning if you come and get mem, then bring me back later. I know a good bit of stuff about rotaries, and I've been working on coolant systems recently(Ask Ramy ). I'm right down the parkway from the springfield mall. The RX-7 has been in my family for about 4 years, so I know what to chekc out. My car is just about to turn 171,500 miles on the stock engine.

Let me know,
-Ian

The stock fan is generally only on while the car is sitting still or at low speeds. Since you were actually driving places and not idling your car the e-fan probably had nothing to do with the car overheating. Of course, this still doesn't mean that your engine isn't shot....
well... i JUST got back from a 4 hour drive going 80-110 all the way... so If it was gonna over heat like that it would have on the highway... after done driving, let the car cooldown a sec, then turned it off for like 5min then proceeded to go pick up my friend w/o turning the fan back on...

Do this now! Get a relay and wire then fan to the lighter. Stop driving the damn car unit this is fixed! Do you want to replace your motor. I can't believe after all this **** you would forget to turn then fan on.

Dude you are gearing up for a blown engine!

First of all. You need to install a temp switch into the Efan setup so it comes on when ever it reaches a certain temp.

Like shown above the "Human" temp switch doesn't work 24/7.

It only takes 1 time to blow the coolant seals.
It may not manifest itself that day or even month but it will say hi down the road.

If your driving over 50mph your Efan has nothing to do with cooling. The speed you are going forces all the air needed to cool the engine.

I've over heated my car twice. about 4 months after the second over heat it spewed it's guts on the side of the road.
Most likely your radiator cap popped and that's where the steam came from.

If you have a puff of whote smoke at start up or while idling then you have a definite seal gone. This will cause bad starting though since the chamber if filling with coolant.

Here is one symptom my car exibited the last month of it's NA life.
The temps woudl be ok. Here in AZ it would over heat a little(1/2 on the stock guage).
I would part it. Then like 10 minutes later I would come out and see a puddle in front of my car.

The radiator cap would pop and spew coolant out.

Uh... I JUST bought the car yesterday.... and me and someone took a look at the car and refilled the coolant and its running fine. No smoke, no bad idle, no bubbling in the coolant. So its all good now! Cept I just locked my keys in my car lol... waiting for AAA... Some luck im having so far

Etrips lol what i did to take out the air out of my car was easy not the safest way but i mean i took out ALL the air let the car warm up remember hot air rises meaning all the air in your system will be at the top of the radiator so then while the water in the radiator is hot just open the radiator cap and it will shoot out alot of air and little water just becareful that water doesnt get on your that **** will burn the crap out of you i know still got a mark on my head =/ but i mean after i did that had no problems with coolant ...

When the temp gauge starts movin up, you're obviously building a lot of heat, and the fan really isn't gonna be a magical solution in dissipating that heat...it can only do so much. What you wanna do is turn the heater up to the hottest setting, and on the "vent" setting, turn on the heater fans to the max. Yea sure, that sux for you being the car, but it basically helps vent lots of that hot air. I can almost guarantee that it'll help bring down the temps...
LOL, my friends do this before they drag race to cool down their engines but keeping them warm at the same time. it does work thought man go 4 it
