@$#$ Mazda and there damn Diff Mounts

Alrighty, im trying to pull the diff out of my 87 n/a, i got the halfshafts off without a problem and now it comes to the diff front mount and the 2 bolts,

there is no way in hell i can get a socket on the front most bolt that is 3/8ths or larger drive, there is a eyelet braket in the way, how do i get this bolt out?

You HAVE to drop the rear subframe to R&R the diff - it's all in the shop manual. There's no way you can do it with the subframe still in the car.

? Hmm alright, haynes (which i guess is wrong) says i dont have to but Alright.. looks like i get to drop a subframe when it stops raining!

explain to me why you removed the half shafts to do the front diff mount? or are you replacing all 3?

im pulling the diff entierly to be replaced later, i have to leave the car in a semi assembled state so i can push it around when it is in the way

Damn, i need to do this soon. I have a bad (knocking everytime i hit the gas, ANOYING AS ****!) diff mount and no LSD. So i guess when i get my LSD rear end ill get a mount or whatevers broken on the mount and replace it all. Anyone wanna sell me an N/A LSD rear end?

ALTERNATIVE TO REMOVING DIFF MOUNT

You don't need to drop the whole sub-frame, just he passenger side.

Remove the lower bold for the center link
Remove the front left bolt for the sub-frame.

Now you should be able to pull down that corner of the sub-frame just enough to get access to the two bolts with a socket and extension. I do this all the time and no problems.

Just be sure and have the rear toe re-set since you are disturbing the geometry when ever you mess with the sub-frame, partial or total removal.
