)(*&#$)(*& problems.. HELP!

ok, I dunno wtf is wrong.

Symptoms: When hot (I just noticed, it does NOT generally happen when cold, only in the AM)

The car will splutter, sometimes die entirely, ping, backfire, cough, etc, etc, etc.

The tach will jump before this happens, and sometimes die entirely.

I thought perhaps the trailing coil had died. I pulled the coil, car ran fine.

I replaced the coil, car ran better. The vibration that I've been dealing with was gone, etc, etc.

This morning.. it does it again.

I scream.

It goes away for a bit, then comes back. I pull the coil.. and it doesn't get better. It's still missing and ****.

What the hell is wrong here? the car has NEVER done this before last weekend. Stuff I replaced last weekend: Clutch, injector o-rings.

Have you checked for loose or bad wiring around the coils?

Also, this assumes that the TPS is good and plugged in securely (check for corrosion on the contacts).

Yes, I have. I will check the TPS after I eat

There doesnt' appear to be loose wiring around either coil, I wiggled the connections.

There IS a connector off at the trailing coil, I'm not sure what it does. It looks pretty dirty too, like it might not have ever been connected to anything. It's just a one wire connector, on the same part of the harness as the two wire connector that attaches to the trailing coil. Anyone know what it does?

Pretty sure that's the spare tach signal.

Don't worry about the extra connector....Have you checked timing (just to be thorough)? I have a STRONG feeling that it is a loose connection around the ignition coils. You should check and clean each one. Seen these symptoms before...

I checked the connections to the TPS and both coils. They all looked fine? NO corrosion on the coil connections and minor corrosion on the TPS. I cleaned them all up with some contact cleaner, a toothpick and a q-tip. Took the car out for a spin, it didn't do it. I really wonder if it only does it when its HOT.

I have a spare CAS I can swap in, just for kicks. BUT: it's an s5. Is there any difference? it LOOKS the same....
