Question $hit I have a problem with my rebuild (in progress) please look and advise.

I am putting the exhaust manifold back together. There is like a “air” hole on the exhaust manifold.. But it does not line up correctly with the hole in my gasket. What the hell is going on?

Thx a lot.

You sure you didnt get an NA gasket set or something? That looks like the NA version. I get all my stuff from atkins, and for na's they give me that generic kit you have. IT comes with damn cardboard exhaust gaskets, which I never use...Im more comfortable reusing the stock metal one, and on an NA it is usually in good shape.

However, when I order t2 parts, even atkins sends me the real mazda gasket kit, which includes the 3 ALL METAL turbo gaskets. That cardboard **** will neve stand up to the turbo's heat and pressure very long. I would NOT use that, even if it did fit.

Oh, but if you do decide to use that one, you can just drill yourself a matching hole. I believe that is, at least, an NA gasket. IF you didnt have to pass emissions, you could do without it totally; that's the EGR ****.

Well, if it is any consolation, seems like you got a good price for all the $hit you got.

I get all my stuff from there, and they normally do pretty well. Try buying form revolutoin rotary a couple of times and youll go RUNNING back to atkins!! lol

I see you ordered from irene. there was the problem...anyone other than Kathy taking your order is just asknig for trouble.

So, I assume you have not done the engine yet?

You do know that they will not take that kit back now, right? Now that you opened it, they refuse to take them back. I dont know what kind of resolution theyll reach with you, but if it winds up being a big pain, Ill take it off your hands, I need to order one pretty soon anyway.

Well $1263.00 is not the best price, but fair. I would have gladly payed more for the RIGHT stuff. My time is more valuable than money, my time cannot be replaced, money will always be there.

Now my rage has calmed a little bit ... is there anything else I should be aware of? All the internal parts are the same correct? Oil pump? apex's? rotor kits? O rings? all that stuff should be fine to cross over right? Its just the gasket kit that is my problem I hope?

Thx

All the internals are the same. That is where it stops...every other o-ring and gasket is useless, or at least quite a few of them. Unfortunately, this being *part of* the gasket kit, I dont know what theyll do for you.

Well my GF is a Lawyer, and so is my brother N law... so they will take this gasket set back. It is clearly stated on my invoice that they shipped the wrong kit. I will buy the kit elsewhere if I have to .. to get the engine done and proceed to sue them for my money back in the mean time. I hope it does not come to that. But they don't have a leg to stand on .. it is not my job to research part numbers before I use a item, when the reciept cliams it is the corect part.

Yeah, youre 100% in the right, and it is their fault, I was just saying that is how I understand their policy to be, just as stated on that little sticker on the front of the kit "STOP once opened this kit cannot be returned".
But, they *should*, and probably will, do something to correct it.

I will post up here and let you all know if they correct this situation in a resonable & timely fassion. I have ordered items from Atkins before with no trouble... I will continue to order from them if this is resolved. I was unaware I had to speak with Kathy to get things right though .. it's kinda sad that they had incompitents working for them. Thx for your help Kevin.

I ordered a TII rebuild kit from them months ago and they did the same thing to me; sent me N/A stuff. I spoke to them politely (even though I was upset) and they sent me out the correct stuff before I even sent the other stuff back. I didn't open individual packages but they never asked me if I did either.

Bottome line: Be polite and you should get a good resolution.

Well I must say i am very happy with the service i got from Atkins. I called Kathy first thing monday morning and they appoligized whole heartidly and next day Air'ed my needed replacement gaskets. I asked them about the N/A stuff... they said Keep it... use it another time or give it to a friend. They didn't even want the wrong stuff back.

I am still not happy I lost a weekend of working time do to there Fug up .. but I will hapily continue to do business with Atkins ... they gave me no **** what so ever.. and fixed the problem as timely and Easy for me as I could of asked.

Atkins C- for the inital fug up.
Atkins A+ for the way they fixed it.

One thing I just noticed - you painted your turbo exhaust manifold. Be prepared for some serious stank when you start your car - that paint will last around 5-10 minutes, tops. The only thing that can stick on exhaust components is ceramic coating, and that's even tough.
