$650 Standalone engine management system
Hopefully if all goes well, you can arrange for another group buy at a later date. You should deffinately get the people you need for this one but I know I am tight on money right now and might not make the deadline, I'm sure I'm not the only one.
RotaryRevn - the group buy ends on Feb 21. Normally group buys are open for only a couple of weeks, but I kept this one open for longer just to accomodate folks like you. The fact is, in order for there to be a future buy, this one's got to work, and work well. I mean, since I'll already have one, there won't be much incentive for me to organize another, right?
Just eat a lot of ramen and catch rides to work whenever you can, mate
Feb 21 is plenty of time to get up $650 + options...
And remember, folks... you've got to subscribe to the email list to stay completely updated! I'm going to start dropping the forums pretty soon, since I'm technically freeloading (Jason's mailbox has been full for some time now) and don't want to waste their space.

I've got a beta copy of it, but unless you have the unit connected, it's not good for much, unfortunately.
There are some screenshots in the Microtech section of the Forum; look it up.

i maybe off but i'm 16 what do i know?
i got a question, since microtech doesn't run closed loop, meaning there is no neeed for the O2 sensor right? so my af gauge is no good for this also?

Tony,
You will never hear me on Brandon make the claim the Microtech is a better ECU than the Haltech. However, that is not the question. The question is, will the LT8 do the job for less money. I have been involved in 3 E6K and 1 E6S install. I have never touched a Microtech, you have never touched a Microtech, you just know what you have read on the forums, and the information here is many times wrong or non-existant. At first Brandon was pretty much against the Microtech on the assumption that it was a substandard ECU, but after looking over FACTS and NUMBERS rather than opinions he came to the conclusion that maybe it was fine for what he was looking for.
Basically you will be missing out on some outputs, closed loop (which I have seen not work well at all on an E6K), and a little finer injector resolution with the Haltech. I personally don't need the extra outputs as I don't really need the EMS to control boost, or an idle soleniod, or a nitrous system. You are pretty quick to pass judgement for someone who has yet to get their own car up and running on an E6K, if I recall correctly.

600HP Club: Normally, when you use a typical AF gauge, you tap into the line which leads to the ECU. Now, instead of tapping into the ECU's wire, you'll just run the wire straight to the gauge, and it'll work just like normal. It actually simplifies things a little bit.
Closed loop mode is only used during cruise conditions to lean things out for good fuel mileage, but with good high-vacuum and tip-in enrichment tuning, you can actually beat most Bosch (typical OEM) closed-loop systems.
TonyTurboII: Trust me, I understand that sentiment. In fact, to hear me say it a month ago, the Microtech LT8 was crap.
My opinion at that time, however, was based on hearsay and misinformation. I've since specified my goals, and researched the fact about what the LT8 is and isn't. It turns out, the LT8 fits the bill just fine for my goals (400hp at 20psi 'streetable' and long-trip-drivable). Would I use a microtech on a dedicated road-race car? Probably not, but simply because the Haltech is more "proven" - not because the LT8 can't handle it. The LT8 lacks the uberflexibility, sure, but the sheer number of compensation maps that the Haltech supports are both often-unnecessary and very daunting to the "new" tuner. Especially for the low cost, the LT8 is a great buy.
SonicRat: Well, we are conversing on an internet forum
I think it's a fair guess that most of us work in IT somehow or another.

Email majordomo@team140.net with the line "subscribe microtech (youremailaddress)" (no quotes or ()s) alone in the body. Then, email microtech@team140.net and tell us who you are, where you are, what engine/car combo this will be installed on, and how sure you are (%) that you're in.

yeah i know about close loop, and i was talking to my friend earlier about it. And we thought up if u lean it out under normal driving conditions 0-3k rpm and then start maxing the fuel when it gets higher to prevent detonation/pinging etc..that way it'll save gas.
