If I was to turbo my N/A and had the S4 n/a stand alone unit from you, I should be able to use it just fine right, aside from the new tuning i would have to do for the turbo

The units are exactly the same. The only difference is the basemap that we send them with. So yes, it would work just fine

Yes, this is just the first batch we are making. However, the later ones are projected to cost around $525 instead of $450.

If the price would stay around 450 I would without a doubt buy one within the next month.

why the increase in price? You guys in cohoots with the BIG 3 oil companies? What gives. At $450 I would do it, but I have to save up to afford it, by which time your "second" batch of $525 units will be out to market, and out of reach.

$75 dollars isn't the worse that could be added. I think it's just fine. Products like the MS cost time and money.

It's actually really easy. There is a lot of options with the MegaSquirt, so it can look complex at first. I really reccomend reading a lot of the http://www.MegaSquirt.Info site

I will be ordering as soon as I get the rest of setup put together. On a side note the motor is in the car today.

I don't know when the next run will be, but since we will be 'geared up' to produce more units by then, we should definitely be able to accomidate you guys

Jason, do you guys want my old S4 ECU? I only have the board/connector availible, though, since I'm using the case for my megasquirt It's free for you or MuyThai, because of all the work you guys put into the rotary ignition/tuning bits.

Do you have to wire a new harness like normal megasquirts, or does it come with a pre assembled harness?

I would assume it comes with the harness already wired up since its "plug and play". I personally want to build mine myself so I'm gonna have to pass (plus I have no money right now)

Thats what I figured, just wanted to verify. Its better for people like me who dont trust themselves with wiring something that complex

You are correct, it's already wired up. It's just like swapping an ECU, except you have to run a vac line from the ECU to where the MAP sensor line went previously.

Out of curiosity... do you have to get rid of emissions and stuff when you use standalones?...

I don't suppose the ACV or BAC works any more after you gut out all the solenoids and stuff.

(and what about 6PI for NAs?)

On the contrary, the ZEMS uses the BAC to control the idle. You don't NEED to remove anything, but you CAN.

I have the MegaSquirt controling my AUX ports and VDI on my S5 Convertable. On the S4 you don't use the computer to control them as they are actuated by exhaust back pressure.

Infinite.

Unlike a piggyback/reflash/etc (S-AFC/RTEK/F-CON/ETC) the ZEMS is a full standalone. It is not limited by only being allowed to modify stock numbers by a certain percent.

Limitations will be mechanical, for example: the size of your injectors, and the size of your turbo.

Peak power is not a comparison point of standalone ECUs.

The Haltec, Motec, MegaSquirt, Microtec, a Carburator, functioning properly and tuned for it, they will all produce similar peak power.

Where they all differ, is in price, lower load tunability, support, and features.

...hmm, well, would a properly tuned MS-run FC with the stock main cat be able to pass emissions? (not that I have to worry about them, just that I wouldn't to pollute more than nessicary)

(I don't actually have my split air pipe hooked up, but I hope to get one eventually... I have a high-flow cat and a pre-cat replacement pipe though)

Of course, a standalone is a pipe dream for me at the moment, although I'd definately consider it my first option if/when I do a turbo swap (if my car actually lasts that long...lol).

Also, could you change out the stock O2 sensor for a wideband (using the same bung) and run it off of that? Or do you need both?

The auto-tune feature sounds really interesting... sort of like the FREEDOM CPU (which has an auto-learn feature), except half the price.
