Yet another exhaust violation ticket

This time I got it with a full racing beat exhaust.

So I get pulled over, "license and registration please" so I hand him my documents and he goes on to say the next thing they always say "do you know why I pulled you over", so I said " I wasn't speeding or anything. No, I honestly don't know why". Well then he goes on to tell me that my exhaust is way too loud and how he used to think it was cool to have flowmasters on his cars. I explained to him that it was the closest stock replacement that was available and that it has 2 mufflers and a presilencer.

I'm really sick of this BS, I have a 50 state legal catback on my car and I still get targeted. The car is very quiet. The car looks completely stock minus the FMIC and the tasteful Enkei wheels. It must have been pretty obvious that I'm not some punk 18 year old kid driving around with my hat backwards, sporting the FUBU.

Maybe he got spanked by an RX7 in his foxbody with flowmasters back in his youth and was venting his jealousy at me.

oh well I guess I'll try writing a letter to the judge, and if that doent work I'll just have to pay up.

That's a reference to the stereotypical ricer. Don't get upset. Its just a stereotype and I was just saying that I don't even fit the stereotype.

Yeah I wish our law was based on decibel level, unfortunately the law is actually that you cant have anything other than a stock replacement exhaust. Bull **** for a 20yr old car in a place where exhaust systems take a beating from the winter.

I guess show them pictures of the exhaust and the old one, they look practically the same, do the rb systems even sound much louder besides the different tone?

I guess you don't have a 50 state legal catback, as your state doesn't allow non-stock replacements, you fubu ricer :P

I had my car towed and impounded for my exhaust.
I had it fixed, but the previous owner was told to also have an inspection done, so I got dinged with it.
**** sucks. Move on, some cops are dinks.

I understandably got exhaust tickets in my other RX7 but I never imagined getting one in this one.

Too many cops are on a power trip.

This is where Australian law comes out on top, I have every modification on my vehicle covered by an engineering certificate so I am untouchable.

I have noticed a lot of hate for the cops in this thread; believe me they can pick up on attitude. Some are *****’s; some are not as with any other profession.

I always try to strike up a conversation with them and have found they will almost never go after you when you do this. Just simple questions like “hey how’s it going?” or “busy night?” seem to work well.

show him thats its 50 state legal, he shouldnt write you the ticket. If he does, fight it at court. You will win. Make sure you have your racing beat exhaust 50 state legal certificate

Exactly. Treat them how'd you'd treat a fellow rotor head.

Dont say **** like "why'd the **** you pull me over for?" or "what's the problem?" You show any kind of smartass attitude and they'll burn you. Lucky me i've never gotten busted for car mods. Been pulled twice (my exhaust on my old car was a 2.5" straight pipe with a fart can and then 2 feet of downpipe after i was turbocharged), got let off without so much as a warning. Friendly conversation, non-threatening body movments and facial expressions and alot of smiling and eye contact got me off the hook. I was riding without insurance both times too!

When i thought i was an untouchable skate/bmx punk ***, i got in trouble all the time. I think the second time i got thrown in jail i decided to start treating them like people, not PIGS. They do save lives and help people, despite what you may think when they pull your *** over.

I was absolutely civil with him and did spark up some friendly conversation, he just pulled me over with a purpose in mind and didn't really care.

I actually dont think the full rb exhaust is 50 state legal. Sucks but i never got a ticket for that in my 88 t2 with a turbo back. Now it was was not loud but my tps was off and everytime i left of the gas it backfired and was shooting about a 6-12 inch flame outa both pipes(all my friends liked to follow me).

+1 man, in NJ and NY they honestly dont give a ****. If they pulled you over with writitng u a ticket in mind, and you dont have a gold card or badge, they will write you a ticket. I have gotten 3 exhaust tickets in the past 2 years. and everytime I had been driving like 5 mph under the posted limit.

Racing beat mentions that it is street legal and they also say that it is sound legal.

I think it says it is 50 state legal in the blackdragon auto catalog
