worst part about your FC??
The fact that i pick my car up from the shop and drive to get gas and the door handle on the driver side breaks... then on the way home my fiance and i stop for diner come back out and she tries to roll down the window and it no longer works (motor is toast). then get it back down to the shop to check my A/F ratio at 14.5 psi and not only does the clutch slave take a dump but the master cylinder craps itself too. Since i put in the new engine and clutch its been breaking small things. i just hope its finding weak links in the chain and doesn't become a constant deal. But since its back in the shop now getting the clutch issues worked out i went ahead and ordered my suspension set up. lol my girl says i have till mid 2008 to keep dumping money into it. after that i have a honey moon to pay for lol.
- Electrical gremlins (dead horn, one-speed wipers, shorted wires [went through a couple headlight switches until I found one])
- Oil leaks
- Cheap plastic interior
- Relatively poor gas mileage
- While I've always thought the car had a clean look, the front overhang is a bit long for my tastes.
I bought my '86 Sport as a starving grad school student with 79k miles and it now has almost 147k. It was very beaten up inside and out, but a strong runner. The engine is original, but I had the clutch and tranny replaced at about 107k (the latter due to my own stupidity). I also had the rear shocks replaced at around 110k and differential at about 120k.
These are pretty old cars and only getting older. (One of the reasons I look for RX's with crank windows.) Even so, unless its a very low mileage example, there will ALWAYS be something that needs replacing now or soon.
For example, my clutch just started dumping fluid (slave or master cylinder?) and the propeller shaft is clunking when I engage first gear (U-joints perhaps?).
My wife may hate my FC, but I'll drive it until the wheels fall off, then buy the cleanest, lowest mileage example I can find to replace it.

Mine would be the friggin' dirty title that it came with... She hasn't been registered to the last 4 owners, and the guy that the title's name is in (which is scribbled all over with crayons btw...) is running from the cops in Mexico.
SOOOO... I still haven't driven her on any real roads...
me and my buddy were talking about the worst parts of our cars and he brought up the usual ... flooding, apex seals, coolant seals, oil cooler lines... straight out problems. i said the worst part about my car is it has no cup holders. so this has probably been done before but what do you hate most about your car?
broken door handles, dents on the door, bondo rear fender/headlight area (some dumb motorcycle rear ended my car my friend ghetto fixed it for me..) broken plastic interior pieces, a/c went out, along with other problems that i should be fixing soon.
Window motors have gone out on the vert its not to bad cuz you can still put the top down but still. She has a bad top and in Seattle it well we know what Seattle is known for... Seems like every 2 to 3 weeks something is wrong whit it and I stop driving it and dont get a round to fixing it for 4+ weeks... good thing its this time of year she gets to stay in side now and lots of little thing are going to be replaced.
Hmm.... That sounds more like YOUR worst problem...

similar issue dude. The second owner did get it properly transferred (stupid women!) with both transactions if i might add! I'm the fourth owner and i have to go to court to have the car title transferred.....( **** is not cheap)

The worst part about my Sport is definitely the body. There's an 8" long rust hole at the back of each rocker (I think it used to have those black aero things, and they must have trapped moisture and rusted that area). The driver's side rear wheel well had a 4" chunk rusted away (fixed with expanding foam and bondo, looks surprisingly good). Most of the bolts on the underside are rusty and often break when I'm working on the car (my undertray is held on with zipties because all of the original bolts all broke off in their holes). The doors and hatch don't line up that good, I suspect the body's been rock and rolled pretty hard in it's time. But, on a good note, it has 202k miles and runs like a top (after it warms up for about 5 minutes
)
Worst part about my base is that it doesn't have an engine and it's 4-lug, and I don't have the money at the moment to fix either of those issues.

The fact that...
1. Anything I try to install takes more time and more money to get in my car.
2. The money I've had saved for education has steadily gone to my 7.
3. I keep putting off getting a new engine to deal with leaks.
4. Everyone hates my car but me.
5. Just because I have the only RX-7 at school, everyone thinks I'm the DK.
6. Since I do all the work on my car myself, all the 240sx noobs think I can help them with my car.
7. All the mechanics waste more time marveling at my engine-bay than aligning my car.
8. My life is depending on if my car won't die tomorrow.
9. My engine still has over 180,xxx miles and is still holding a good compression.
10. My paint is a "blue fade-job"/primer.
11. When I do drive my car, everyone on the road almost hit me.
12. The easiest thing to fix is adjusting the seat.
13. I haven't seen another RX7 in 6 months(any 7).
14. I get tired of explaining how my engine is different.
15. I have a love/hate relationship with my engine.
16. I spend more time under my car than in it.
17. I talk to my car more than I do to people.
For what its worth, its still the best I could wish for in a first car

The fact that I did not get the title for 4 yrs
I got it with a blown motor and no tranny for only $50 though
replaced the tranny twice and the clutch and pressure plate twice
replaced the motor cause the previous owner said it "the motor runs great" lol
replaced the wiring harness cause of a fire cause by the shitty s4 pulsation dampener,
replaced the ecu three times,
the throttle body three times,
the TPS three times,
the fuel injectors 6-7 times,
the water pump once,
the altanator once,
the the idiot light cluster three times,
the vacuum lines twice,
the crank angle sensor twice,
the fuel injector gromets too many to count,
the air pump once,
and the coils... well those have yet to fail me. lol
also the crappy sunroof that never works
the constant idling problems no mater what I do
I think that is it also it has been stolen once lol costed me $200 to get it bacK
But I love my 87 SPORT

that reason and gas mileage. oh yea my seatbelt light turns on intermittently along with the buzzer. everytime i hear it reminds me of dumb and dumber. "wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" lol
Thw worst part about my FC......It had way to many previous jackass owners. doors look like you could boogie board on them, jackass never fixed the pass side rear quarter form an accident the correct way, at very leat 5 paint jobs but were all done perfessionally, the jackasss that felt like trying to hold there self up with my pass mirrior when i was out of town,, the jackass that broke my windsheild when i was out of town, Its a convertible.....
I hate how I drove my FC with no licence and now I gotta go to court wednesday in front worst judge in the county...
Oh yea.. Email me @ w.sencer@tmail.com if u have tips on storeing an rx7 for a period of time... might have to to jail time...
