I have the same gran turismo experience the cars curves just really appealled to me(since my brother was going GOO-GOO GAA-GAA over the R33 and R34). Well when i was in high school, one of my buddys had a Ma70 supra turbo that he got from his dad as his 1st car. i thought it would be cool to make a car club with him so i wanted something that not many people had. I first spotted the car in the may issue of superstreet back in 03 with the GP-sports kit. I don't know what happened it just really struck me and come to find out somebody had a 91 coupe forsale(which i got for free 4 years later!!!) and the car has been stuck with me since. Its a different experince when driving this car.

I needed a good drift chassis. And these cars are IMO amazingly designed. They handle like they're on rails, and they look amazing doing it.

It hit me last night cruising up and down a local car gathering area. In a sea of Vdubs, corvettes supras and 240s I was the only FC on the road. While my car is far from something to brag about, it was a nice feeling.

If i had to the money to dump, i'd have a very sleeper oiriented FC. about 350-400 to the wheels is all I need/want. Just enough to go out and play with some of the big boys.

I call ******* bullshit on the previous owner of Breaksofresh..it's not even a chick magnet (maybe a FD)..most girls tell me to sell my FC rofl haha...they say it's too loud n it always smells haha (damn rotary)

oh yea I picked the FC because I figured it'd be a nice sport car to start off with..hopefully making my way up to a Evo or 911 GT2 (haha)

plus it's rare where I live..I hardly see any FC's driving around...(maybe 2 or 3 in a month)

and I didn't wanna be be like everyone else around where I live where 240's , DA's, DC's are all what everyone has or wants

I have a friend that used to have a 79rx7, he was telling me some good fun stories about what he used to do with his car. Well when I was 17 I got a DUI so I couldn't drive the car I had. At the same time my brother was looking at car auctions in town and was telling me about how cheap cars sold for. So I told him to buy me an rx7 and I'd give him my blazer. Picked up an 88 vert with blown coolant seal, dead clutch and tranny. Then the money pits began. Had to pick up another s4 to transplant into the vert. Been stuck on them ever since

1. Why did you chose to own an fc (if that's your only rx7)? Was it the only one you could afford or is it the most appealing to you?

It was a combination of purchase price, availability, and appeal. I've been a sucker for rotaries for a couple of decades, but only now have made the decision to actually own one. Being a child of the '80s there something inately attractive about the lines of the 2nd Gen,

2. If money wasn't a problem would you still chose an fc or any other car out there?

If money were NO object, I would have an entire stable of vehicles, and there would be at least a couple of rotary-powered cars in there. At least one of each generation of RX-7, and an RX-8 would look good next to each other. I'm also a fan of 'vettes, of any age, '56 t-bird, '52 Jag XJ120, but now we're just getting silly!

I first saw the FC in 87 when my father got one brand new... It wasnt just a car to me.. it was like a space ship. buttons i never seen before. to me all those buttons where unheard of.. Not just that. but the style the popup headlights the way the car cornered. And Most of all the cockpit. No cars cockpit at the time could beat it..
He had the (CARPHONE) that i never seen before and at the time No one else had..
i could call my friends from the spaceship LMAO.. so i called it..

I wanted that car at 12 years old. I worked summer after summer to get it from him used... then in 89 90 everyone lost there job and the tow truck came and got it...

I said i will own that car someday... and Well better late then never i do.... Little known to me how much of a headache it has been. But worth it when driving it down the road... To bad i didn't have 19k back in 87.. owell

First saw it in initial d and then checked it out in video games (gran turismo's, forza's). Loved them ever since. They're rare in northern VT but I found a 1986 N/A FC at a suzuki dealership near where I live. I was driving my suburu 2.5RS at the time (my other fav car) and I did a double take while driving past. it was around 2am and no traffic, I was driving home from work. I had a friend I worked with with me and without thinking I just pulled the e-brake and 180'd. freaked my friend out.lol. anyway, I looked it all over for about an hour, mostly just staring in disbelief as you can't find them up here. the best part was it had only a big "BEST OFFER" in the window. it was in fair condition with faded paint and a little rust. Now the rust has turned into some welding in 6" of side frame and re-doing my rockers but it drives great. only things I replaced were the oil, oil, fuel, and air filters, and the fuel pump.

Anyway, no way I would ever go without one. I am thinking of selling this one and buying a T2 with better frame and body though. If I had a million dollars, I'd through it all into the FC!

Sorry to revive a couple week old thread.. But here goes
1. Why did you chose to own an fc (if that's your only rx7)? Was it the only one you could afford or is it the most appealing to you?

Backstory: My uncle Clyde had an FC [I was too young to remember it though], but I do remember his FB.. I was curious about the "spinning triangles" in the engine, and the orange gauges caught me eye.. [Though I didn't really think about it]. Years went by and I was in middle school in a "transportation tech" class [taught by one of the best teachers ever - played an FPS with my friends against him every day at lunch ^_-], and we had an assignment that included a bit of info about Wankel engines.. Years again went by and I forgot for the most part. My grandpa gave me a Pulsar NX [1.6L, when it was in /good shape/ a loooong time ago it had 75HP :P] I had that for about 6, 7 months or so, when I went to my friend's birthday party, his friend Josh was there with his shiny red FB... With a big carb... and full exhaust.. and no emissions.. Shooting flames I didn't know much at all about RX-7s.. I barely recalled that the engine in an FB was a 12A.. [This caught Josh's attention] Josh showed me RX7club, and I met Jared [see sig...] Jared invited me down to get a ride in his 89' T][, for some drifting.. driving towards the industrial area, I was convinced. I had to have one. ^_-
lol.. My base FC, was the only decent, decent priced one I could find [I was fairly disappointed to only find an auto. though :/ ] Still, I've been happy with the car for the most part [It's a greedy sucker though.. It kept breaking parts and making me steal them from the GXL proj. I had.. When the GXL got Tahoe'd, it even took the engine] Also, it's on its third drive shaft >_<..

2. If money wasn't a problem would you still chose an fc or any other car out there?

Ohhhh Yes... But it would probably be $50-75K worth of FC. ^_- [To build up a perfect - for me - S5 T][..] Now I just have to take over the computer shop I work at from my boss... >_> [seriously, I'm working on it ^_-]

I bought it because of the rotary! First thing that got me hooked was the looks, next was the engine's low center of gravity and lightweight. Since I want to become an engineer, the rotary just blew me away. I couldn't believe it when I first found out about it. The handling got my attention too. Most of all, the history and the legend of that mark. I wanted to be different and own something that not many people were willing to have. Also because I'm a DIY'er so I wouldn't mind this attention *****. I bought mine cuz AC and PS worked, no seals were blown, it had 133k miles, was cheap, white, all electrical stuff worked and cuz it was a gxl (gotta love 4piston brakes)!!

Yes and no, I would own a gutted track only first gen, a 10th anniversary 2nd gen and restore it to mint factory condition, and a 3rd gen R1.

i had a P.O.S 88 honda crx automatic with no power and didnt want to pay for my water pump & timing belt repair,so i did a str8 trade NOT only by NOT seeing the car in person, only via Email & pic exchange...I went out on faith & trust i guess, and im VERY VERY pleased with the end result!!!also having plenty of experience in rotary's and NOT honda's...

Talking Why i copped my FC

Have liked since I was little cuz my sisters pops had a 1st gen. Tried to buy a white fc at 16 but car had no title and I got into motorcycles. Moved from St. Louis to Orlando and finally purchased one after wrecking my Saturn. Clean 88 SE 4 2 stax and get hella compliments (Errbody from P R ). Plan on Auto X and buying another FC shell b4 getting an FD.

Hmmm...FD will always be the car I want but since I can't afford it yet I looked at my choices in my price range and just fell in love with the design of the FC compared to anything else available. The rotary engine became a bonus reason for me >.>.

Every single car video game i have bought i have chosen an rx7 since i was like 14, Ive just always loved the way they looked and how you rarely see them on the street, Ive always loved the FD, but since i was broke when i was 17 i looked into FCs and purchased it as my second car, I fell in love with it!! did a turbo swap and ever since ive been addicted, I love the way they look, sound, handle, and the way people check them out when you drive by.
It great how the only time ill see an FC is either on the freeway or at a meet.
Even if i was a millionare, i would have a super clean, low mileage, high power 7 in my garage for the weekends .
Ive just always enjoyed having something different then everyone else, and explaining how they work when someone asks (whats it got? a 4 banger?) hahaha

I sold my 82 Trans Am because it was a big boat and even with 350hp it was slow as hell. Plus i really wanted a 88-95 5.0L mustang and found one for a decent price. Yet while i was looking on craigslist i searched for rx7s and found a 88 vert for $2000. that had be listed for 2 months. So offered the guy $1000 cash and took the car home that night. Ive been addicted ever since. The car will be a turbo within the next month and ive only had it since october.

I would only ever own a 03 mustang cobra with something over 800+whp but would still keep my turbo vert with my goal of 350whp reliably and and my other current project a 650+whp fc.

all of the cars i have built in the past, i spent alot of time making the engine bay clean and simple (wire tuck's, relocating everything, removing everything that isnt required by the engine to run right), so i figured what better platform than a rotary to make super clean and simple under the hood?

i also spend alot of time on suspension, and the FC has a good aftermarket following when it comes to suspension parts.

plus my first 4 builds were FF Honda's, then i built an AWD Subaru, now its time for a RWD project.
