Why does US RX-7 meet suck? (7-7-09 rotary Japan meet)

Honestly, if we had a meet like that, it would be broken down soo fast by cops. and not to mention the typical ricer honda crowds coming by to show off/rev.

Not enough modified/tuned RX7s in the states that are of Japanese tune influence, only say a handful of them, and alot of owners vary in taste/age, I doubt the older crowd will be very fond of this styling.

WHen i had a 240sx, 2002-2004 where the best years for car meets, most of the modifications where japanese influenced and everyone who modded would use real japanese parts, it was always motivating to go and look.. now everyone in 240s is like teenagers with fake parts cheap wheels kits etc.. I guess its just a maturity thing, but if your like me , you can appreciate the time people put into their cars. I have yet to go to a rx7 meet, just doesnt look too interesting imo. Not enough baller cars to go check out.
I'm just as much as a hater as those that hate me. Sorry if I offend anyone, but the truth hurts.

There are a lot of pics from the Tsukuba Circuit meet also, but I want to see videos.

FD is such a great engineered chassis that alot of racing teams still prefer it and build off it.

i was also thinking we live in different societies, we cant fix our cars up like that because of theft being an issue here. people are just out to get you. From what i hear about japan, theft is a minimal issue, only hear about it around the stationed US military bases lol.

Theft has little to do with it. Its an entirely different culture and lifestyle. Over here, having a car like that is showing how baller you are when over there its showing how committed you are to the hobby. Go from dumping money into a car (shiny polished engine bays, body kits, "baller" wheels, etc.) to putting money and work into the right places and that is the end result. Function > form.

90% of the cars on this board have probably never even seen 160mph+. Yet we still have badass V mounts, big turbos and $2000 coilovers. My opinion on the **** talkers? Unless you have the commitment to build a car like that blue FD and the ***** to drive the **** out of it, shut the hell up because you could spend your entire life trying to understand the engineering that goes into it and still have no clue. No one gives a **** if you think its "hideous", go back to watching F&F if all you car about is whether the **** "looks fresh". /rant.

the last i checked their theft rate is about .02% . and that was back in 07. as of why we cant do that here, i think alot of us in the states dont aspire to do hardcore body work like that. and generally speaking, the ones that do usually arnt that creative.

i attended CCS last year here in detroit... and the conceptual designs for our future cars are...less than innovative?

anyhow, i hope to see more innovative body mods comming on the 7 club forums, especially from the 2nd Gen section. and ill be sure to post mine once im finished with my priority performace mods

You also have to take into account that those are their domestic cars. I bet they are just as envious of our classic muscle car meets.

Not really,

They throw many Mooneyes Hot Rod & Classic car event that are super popular.

They def. look cooler than most US style meets.

They have models and makes of all kinds, even cars that you rarely see in the US anymore.

Another common misconception.

Muscle car guys don't head out to the highway late at night and drive at 150mph+. I can also imagine that drag racing isn't very popular in Japan since the country is 75% mountains so I don't see how they'd be envious of a half-*** sport.

I think you mean classic car owners. If you are in fact talking about muscle car owners, then you need to associate with REAL muscle car owners. I have a customer who is a mega corvette-head, and the first thing we did with his new C6 was exactly that. His 67 Nova deuce also gets the same treatment.

Drag racing is not a half *** sport. Try drag racing is the first form of racing car's did. A real car guy can appreciate all aspects of competition.

The largest factor with the meets over there vs. over here that no one has mentioned is the damn population density. Japan is TINY folks.

I bet if the USA was smaller, deals gap would blow that meet out of the water as far as attendance goes. Yes the car's may not have the same level of modification, but no one builds anything over here anyways look at the US economy and find me any number of interesting products produced by US workers. You guys are consumers and critics, not creators.

I just don't get how people think that everyone in Japan tracks their cars. There's probably as many 'built' cars that never see a track there as there are in the US. Same ****, different continent.

Then you have been misinformed b/c the scene over there is very much into drag racing. Do you ever watch real underground documentaries from Japan focusing on the scene and the meets they have late at night?

Yeah some grip race the mtns and others drift, some run the freeways @ crazy speed but there is equally the amount of people who line up car after car pushing ******* retarded amounts of PS racing one after another on streets and the strip.

I really enjoy the Japanese mentality on tuning cars. They really kind of do a little bit of everything and I'm no JDM fanboy by all means but they have some ******* sexy *** cars that are extremely well put together. My favorite are the minimalists that just drive circuits and hit up the mountains w/ their daily drivers.

im not a fan of drag racing either. i respect it, as well as the many of you that do it, and ill 7 pride when people like JRat kill the quarter.

but over all drag (especially in the motor city) is all about power.
more money=more hp
which is logical, but not as skill required as the obvious other motor sports.

I beg to differ. Put two guys in equally prepared cars and the better driver wins. Everytime.

There's also a reason as to why they created "classes" in all forms of racing.

the C1 highway is full of loops and turns, and the fact alone that you have to dodge trafic seperates it from drag lol

agreed!
but put the winner of those in a competition that consists of kinks hairpins and sweepers, you need a full set of other skills besides shift timing.

drag is fun, it does require skill, but i think to say that a drag racing requires as much skill as grip isnt very accurate. anyone who can do time attack well can drag race, but not everyone who can drag can grip race.
