What's Your Insurance Like?

Okay this is probly a bad idea, and a bad combo but after seeing someone else just recently get an FC in my school, it cant be that bad.

So im turning 17 in the next few days, and in February, i'll be driving for one year (including 6 months with my parents on my permit). And near spring time i'll be looking at getting an FC, since i just started working. my question is how much do you pay for insurance, and how bad do you think it will be? my parents make me drive their car right now since it keeps the insurance down with having 3 drivers and 2 cars. they said its gonna shoot up if we add another car, but i REALLLLY want one and my dad told me he knows someone who has one in a garage and hasnt driven it in a few years, so its not like he's not saying no to letting me get one. :P

Its right around the same as other cars, unless its turbo, then its slightly higher. I pay $2200 per year for an 1989 vert. Because these cars are old, and not really worth much, their insurance rates arnt the normal "sports car high"

You need to call your insurance company to get a quote, especially since you will be on a group policy. It will not do you much good to see every body else's rate. Yes, your family rate will shoot up with another car, especially if you are designated as the primary driver.

In most cases, every 79-92 RX-7 coupe (turbo and non-turbo) will be the same rate, while convertibles will cost more. The 93-on RX-7 coupe will also cost more.

Pretty low until I racked up -14 points on my driving record. I think it was 1200 a year with my dad's 99 camry, 92 corolla all trac, and my car. Now its like 1600 a year, still not bad at all.

YOU should call the insurance company. You will get a more accurate quote if you know the VIN of the car you want to buy.

89 convertible with a JDM TII swap that the agent doesn't know about. I've got full coverage with coverage added for my stereo system. I'm 37 with a clean driving record and I pay around $90 a month.

I'm paying $700.65 (usd) every 6 months on my TII FC, full coverage with a bunch of incentives (like if someone breaks into my car or steals my car I'm still covered). I'm paying 216.90 usd every 6 months for my 82 Cressida (mx62) daily driver (liability). I was going to get liability but seeing as how people in Louisiana drive like retards I decided to go full coverage. And I'm only 19 so I'm sure my rates will go down eventually (25 I think).

My old insurance company considered any Rx-7 to be a high performance vehicle and wouldn't insure one at all. I got Progressive and was able to get my car 4 years ago, and it is like $800 a year for liability. I got one ticket when I was 18, but I'm 24 now and it's off of my record. I'm on the family's insurance, since I'm still in school and at home with the rents. So, basically it's $800 a year for me.

I've been paying about 120 for four years on my RX-7's. My 1982 7 is 121 a month and the 1988 FC is 120 a month. Both for just liability. That was with the good student discount. Now I don't qualify anymore cause I graduated. But expect 120 to be the high for your age. when you get older is comes down alot. I'm now paying 80 for both cars insured with coverage and a good deductible. But ya you need to get a qoute with the vin #. I think the S5 (1989-1991) are a little bit cheaper cause of the safety features. But these cars aren't your average car, I think everyone will agree with me when I say they don't get that good of gas mileage, they are high maintence (unless it has less than 60,000 miles) are maybe too powerfull for a first car (especially the turbo RX-7's) so don't get cocky in on ever. But they're great cars and I love my 7's. so good luck

I'm in the UK i pay around £250 a year fully comprehensive on a turbo! So thats around $500.
The car is on a 20,000 miles a year policy as well. The UK does have the second safest road network in Europe.

I'm 17 also, and on my parent's policy with Nationwide. The TII is ~200 for 6 months. If that helps.

Too bad after I get my STI and get my own policy, quotes so far are looking like $300/month. Ridiculous.

You'll end up spending the most money on insurance with any car you get. I've spent about twice what the cars worth in insurance since I've owned my car.

Being a 19 year old male, my parents just insured me under one of their cars and put my FC as a secondary. $32/month, but not like it matters. It only runs 2 months a years.

Since my parents don't know about my car (yet), I have to pay for it myself and don't get the benefit of being under their plan. With Geico, no points, age 20 with 4 years exp, no accidents, and the California minimum with no collision and no comprehensive coverage, I'm paying $250 for 6 months. Don't worry, I have a separate umbrella coverage in case I am at fault (knock on wood).

18 years old and my mom makes me give her $150 a month to cover my insurance, by that math, it's close to $1,800 a year or $900 every 6 months with Allstate.

We've got Charter Indemnity something and pay $160 a month. But my car's the primary car, and the secondary's a 90 Accord in my 70 year old grandmothers name...

And I'm almost 17... so $1920 a year. I wonder what'll happen when they find out about my crazy speeding ticket...

I'm only liability, so I only pay 71.00 a month. Not too shabby, I thought. Just gotta hope I don't do something really stupid in my car, lol.
