theres no way in hell your gonna talk me into getting headlights that costed as much as my car im sorry but 650+ is way too much money to be spent on a set of headlights..im not an FD guy haha if i do anything im gonna get H4 housings and deal with that cause i heard theyre better than stock and for the most part plug and play lol

im with you man, the kit is $300 and you can try it yourself
or order the sake bomb ones for $800+ which uses the $300 kit but they are doing the work

So don't buy them. I personally don't feel that's a bad price at all considering the work. Trust me, its not a walk in the park, especially making something you can guarantee will drop into all cars and hold up.

Rx7 retrofits are super easy, when i did my girlfriend's miata it was a huge pain the glue holding the lens together was messy and took a couple tries to pull it off.

h_block88 03-12-11 11:12 AM

are those mini bi xenon"s you using?
While ago i did with fx35 projectors but after i am done with it didnt fit cause of the length issue

my local guy does it for $650 using the same kit.

I understand people got to make money, but I see no benefit of a group buy at that kind of pricing

This is exactly what I would like to do. There was a member on here with a name that had 'TTT' or there abouts with a similar setup. Are you duplicating this design? Are you familiar with it? Do you have any other pics, info, and/or instructions on your setup?

Yeah they are but you have to do the typical retrofit as they are too long to get a fx to work you have to add a spacer in between the bucket and light you might be able to pull it off if you can get the projector really close to the front lens.

Here is my almost finished light i still have to route the solenoid wires to the back and i'm not sure if i want to use the e55 shroud or not.

how much have you had to trim to fit them?

I took a hole saw and cut out the h4 bulb mount and made a new one further back so i could still use the threaded mount on the projector. I then sand, test fit, sand, test fit, and so on to get it spaced right. There wasn't much room to work with it looked like i only had about a cm of clearance beetween the frame and the back of the bulb. I'm kind of wondering how SBG did their's since the fx is 1/2 inch longer.

Rob XX 7 03-13-11 07:18 PM

so no trimming of the vehicle? all the work was in the lights?

The E55-R's and the Occular shrouds looks the best in H4 housings! Some people can't justify the cost in improved lighting. Sometimes it's understandable but at the same time, don't you want to be able to actually see more than 30ft in front of you when you're romping on your 400+hp RX-7? My Kia is a daily driver and around my area gets very dark not too far out of town with lots of deer population so the cost for me wasn't really a factor vs. the superior lighting benefits. I still stand behind my vow never to buy halogen lights again LOL

+1 my friends follow behind me at night when we go out on the bikes. I can see twice as far with my retrofitted morimoto mini's. When things come at you quick, a nice lighting setup becomes a safety concern.

FirebirdSlayer666 03-19-11 11:46 PM

Amen to that. I can't wait to switch out my cheap ass ballasts for some Morimoto 50w ballasts. I'll have more light in front of me than I'll know what to do with LOL

I actually used ddm moto ballasts because they are tiny (not a lot of room on a bike), cheap, and have a lifetime warranty. But I might have the set of morimoto ballasts i never used. Let me know if you want me to see if I find them and I'll send them for cheap.

FirebirdSlayer666 03-20-11 07:43 PM

Nah that's okay. When I change ballasts, I'm also changing harnesses as well so it will be setup specifically for a 50w D2S setup without the AMP/D2S connectors I have now

tuscanidream 03-20-11 09:35 PM

Ok.

turboIIrotary 03-21-11 09:43 PM

Got bored and I put on an e46 shroud.

Not as awkward as I would have thought that would look

Rob XX 7 03-22-11 06:03 AM

can you show a picture of the backside?
