What you guys Think of this?

Found this 2nd Gen 1986 yesterday and after several calls and driving buy many times finally got it for $150 I was told it wouldnt start not even with starting fluid... hmmm But it did for me and guess what it stays running with Starting Fluid alone, Am thinking maybe fuel pump or fuel filter, has anyone had this similar problem before? I need the motor for another 2nd gen but need to make sure motor runs before transplant is made, can anyone give any suggestions??? Thanks.

sounds like a fuel pump to me.i have had some weird experiences with fuel pumps in my 7.it works one moment and with no signs of going out just won't start later.thats happend a few times already, but replace the fuel pump and runs like a champ.i would suggest pulling it,it'll only take a few mins.btw, congrats on a cheap 7

Thanks guys, she runs by spraying into intake. I pulled the fuel pump saturday morning and OMG the bottom of tank had so much build up you wouldnt believe me if I told you but here it goes, almost 2inches of gunk at bottom of tank, worked on getting fuel pump cleaned it nows works great but need to remove tank and clean it good with thinner or something of that nature, but other than that lol good dang buy for the price. It has 150.000 miles no signs of leak on outside, inside nothing mmo couldnt take care of, not bad for an 86 model
