BC What would you do?

So my dad is looking at getting an Rx-7 now ! Only problem is, he cant decide between getting a super clean, perfect condition 86 GXL with 114,000 km/s (70,000 miles) or a 88 T2 that's a little rough on the outside but overall seems to be in good condition, it needs a little work though. The N\A is 5500 and the T2 is 2500. The N\A is showroom condition, only one owner since bought new, and owned by a woman so not driven super hard! The owners know enough about the car to drive it as it needs to be and always got all maintenance and any work done by Mazda. The T2 has been through a few owners and is nice but has some peeling paint and a little dirty but is also fairly nice, it's also significantly cheaper . We need some opinions as its quite a hard decision!

if he plans to use it most causaly and is not the type of person to want to 'use' it id say get the na, its clean, well maintained, and slightly better on gas.

if he is the type that enjoys the performance of the car and wants to get more out of it as a sports car then go for the tii, fix it up how he wants and get a new paint job.

that tii from victoria looks similar to the one sold last month for like $1200.
Sounds like the guy bought it, bought a couple "cool" parts for it and realized something was wrong and decided to try and ditch it.
The previous ad says it was sitting for 5 years or so, and the guy either bought it and didn't properly bring it out of storage or he actually needs money and is trying to make some.
If I didn't buy a clean TII roller, I would have bought that for sure. Personally, I would buy the TII. Even if the engine is tired, buy a rebuilt block, put a BNR and an Rtek and call it a day.

Oh, and if you guys need help with anything, give me a PM. I know the lack of support for island rotary cars, so any little bit may help

Solution= both
My exact thoughts. One project, and one weekend car! But seriously I'd get the unmolested one

wouldnt you be able to get an imported FC3S for around 5K? I mean there is a shop in Edmonton that quoted me anywhere from 4k-7/8k for an rx7 (FC towards that 4k FD towards the 7/8k).

Either way, I would not pay $5500 for the N/A regardless of how clean it was or not: just overpriced IMO, but then again its worth what someone will buy it for.

I wouldn't pay that for an 86 with 115kmiles. BUT if those were my only 2 choices, I MIGHT.
There are better deals out there. Tell your Dad to keep looking and be patient.

This, I'd rather go through a t2 swap on a nice car rather than have a raggedy t2.

deal the N/A one to about 3000$ ( have it inspected , to make sure frame is as good as the rest).

then you get a JSPEC 13bt engine with aftermarket ECU & full exhaust. And swap it in.
Dont forget the wheels & a little suspension.

For the suspension & exhaust i would hit RacingBeat.com
For the Wheels, try JDM shops in you area.
For the ECU , try the forum here....

Engine, get in touch with Marko at ForceFed Performance.
