What Rear Strut bars are Tein EDFC compatible?
Recently I have been looking for a rear strut bar and then realized that some of them may not be compatible with the Tein EDFC system.
http://www.tein.com/products/edfc.html
The older Tein EDFC system had larger motors. I will post a picture comparing the size differences tommorow since I have both.
Here is a pic of the old EDFC motors on an FC. Yes, the camber plate is installed 90 degrees in the wrong direction in this pic.
I was going to buy a Corksport bar because the bar was nice and thick and could possibly be used to wrap a harness around it. But then I noticed the corksport design may interfere with the EDFC motors. Here is a pic of the corksport bar.
The cusco rear bar on the other hand would not interfere at all. Here is a pic of the cusco bar.
I believe I once saw a Mazdaspeed rear bar that had a design that would not interfere with the EDFC but I can't find a pic of it.
Anyone know of any other rear strut bars that may work? If you guys have pics of others post em up please.

that isn't the MS rear bar, but i believe it is exactly the same mount setup.

I searched for while, and couldn't come up with any pics, but someone described it and it was the same as the pic i posted from the mazdatrix website, with the open ends. However, I don't know how close to the shaft it would be, so it still may not work.

Here are pics of the mazdaspeed rear strut bar that will stay up after the auction is over:
Now I gotta figure out how to bid on that bar. This looks like exactly what I want. Its 2x the price of the TC Sportline bar though. I wish there was a pic of it mounted with the shock towers uncovered.

Not sure yet. Was thinking about using the bar to wrap my harness around. However the other night I wrapped the harness around the roll bar and it seems like it might be ok that way. I created this thread because I was toying with that idea and then realized the EDFC compatibility issue and decided it would be a good idea to make this thread so that info could help others and possibly myself.

I have the TSportline rear bar. It bolts in using factory holes in the speaker tower. It looks damn close to that MS bar as far as I can tell from those pics. It should not interfere with your EDFC motors. I can take a pic of it in a week or so if you still need one by then. My car is on the other side of the state.

So the MS and TC sportline don't get anywhere near the strut/shock shaft area, they actually mount upside down from the way they are displayed in their pictures and only the mounting hole area is on top of the strut tower while the rest of the body of the bar sits on the side of the strut tower.
I could never picture how it mounted till the pic above of it actually on the car, seems like a solid way to do it.
At least I think thats right.

You'll want to use your roll bar as a harness attach point. Using the strut tower bar for this purpose is unsafe. Also, if you plan on racing it, any sanctioning body worth its salt will not let you pass tech inspection if you attach the harnesses to the strut tower bar.
Yeah, thats kinda what I figured. The roll bar is kinda close to the seat back though. So far I've wrapped my passenger side around the bar. It looks like it will work. I'm not sure if it is ideal though. I'll post some pics of that in a couple days.
