Turbo23, I'll have to agree. A word of advise coming from a private/non sponsered builder... If you really don't LOVE fc's, don't bother. I've spent count less of $$ building mine specifically for time attack for over 3 years now. Always changing setups, adds more money to the project and you also lose more money. I can honestly say that I've spent well over $30g's, and the car isn't even finish yet.
Cars this old, just about everything needs to be replace to have a competitive and reliable car. It's a very expensive hobby, for me at least. Do it hard, do it right, or don't bother.

well i just mean there is like a styling difference.. when something is performance built in japan, they also make it look sweet... Out here, its usually one or the other
Outside of japanese style tuning, put here I see alot of "track" cars and street cars that consist of very few upgrade parts or replica *cheap* parts, where as the other end, has mostly bling expensive but functional parts.
Alot of the japanese cars will have coilovers, an aggressive drop and big wheels.
Lets debate, between these 2 cars
If we could put them on the same track, which would pull faster times. It would be interesting. The Re Amemiya car, obiously has all Off the shelf bolt on parts, the other, probably more specialty race shop order parts.

3yrs and 30g's its not that bad if you think about it, 10k a year, but it gets overwhelming to think about it...its a car worth keeping at the end though..

what are most of the parts we have to consider to build a time attack FC? really interested. it also depends on the driver too, a good car that drive by a weak driver doesn't mix. just a suggestion

The Firestarter
Then you should build the car based on the event the car is competing in.
The choices for the rx7 is 2wd limited and 2wd unlimited. (read the manual the event holder provides)
Choosing the best parts that are NESSESARY, striving to eliminate faults in the driving performance of the car to make it balanced is the goal to get those fast lap times. Then tuning those parts to make them even more efficent. Dialing in suspension can be just as frustrating as tuning the engine.
Theres alot more to it. If you decide to turn your car into a time attack car, you better be ready to put down some hard cash to recondition that 20 year old car BEFORE you even think of starting to modify it. Start with Frame straightening even if the car has never been in an accident, i guarrentee your frame has some warpage to it.
