Outside of japanese style tuning, put here I see alot of "track" cars and street cars that consist of very few upgrade parts or replica *cheap* parts, where as the other end, has mostly bling expensive but functional parts.
Alot of the japanese cars will have coilovers, an aggressive drop and big wheels.
Lets debate, between these 2 cars

If we could put them on the same track, which would pull faster times. It would be interesting. The Re Amemiya car, obiously has all Off the shelf bolt on parts, the other, probably more specialty race shop order parts.

That american race car is a ep car which is very spec limited and is a side by side racer, not a time attack. It has to run 15x7 wheels, an NA 13b, and can't run a spoiler, not even stock. These are american time attack cars....

hmm thats a good statement.. time attacks dont seem very limited.. spec classes are usually car vs cars racing

clocks Tsukuba within 57 sec, and they're shooting for 56 sec now. RE A.'s fc only ran a best of 58 sec. Super*Now is only running a damn Knight Sports hybrid turbo, but their setup is well put together!
Super*Now is the sh*t!
I predict more fc owners will get into time attack. I would love to have more competitions.
And just to clarify, thetech's fc (blue fc posted above the RE A car) is now a time attack machine. That's one bad car.

if only i could afford a second fc to strip out and swap all the go fast goodies from my current car into. i just could never bring myself to ruin my immaculate interior.
before you call me an idiot and "try" to insult me..
since we are mostly talking about japanese time attacks, go watch some option videos, most of the cars they run around tskuba circuit are of all different setups/configurations. Mostly unlimited

I hoping to get their soon. With FCs being older, especially my own, the body having alot of miles things begin to wear down. Motors, interior wiring is junk, suspension parts. Building a good time attack machine basically to me requires an entire car rebuild. Ive just begun a complete rewire, and removal of ALL stock wiring items. Also the step to time attack would basically put your car to track only. With solid mounts, stripped interior, cages, would not make for a fun daily. Engine wise, I would expect a fast time attack FC to need between 450-500hp. I think things get quite underestimated by some. Just some pricing figures
Engine: Im going to say total 5-7k, thats including your own engine building, but encompasses, ecu, fuel items, turbo items, cooling. This is for a good setup
Body: I would expect between 3-5k, with optional seam welding, and a good cage, track safety items. maybe interior paint (not really necessary) Weight reduction body parts, wide body, aero.
Suspension: The fun stuff, a well done car I would expect 1k to just redo the rear suspension, not including the diff. Front probably another 1k. Wheels with tires another 1-2k. Brakes (stock will work with race pads, and ducting) But most will need a full brake rebuild, so another 1k.
Im sure I have forgotten some items. Even with alot of your own building, from a private owner, thats not sponsor funded its quite a good chunk of change. But I think there is something special about a private owners build being a fast competitor. Shops will have the supplies, back up, and experience.
