Sunday's Cruise Pictures!

Had a perfect day w/ excellent weather. Replaced some **** on my car and got to flex it out a lot today. It felt great! Had a blast and drove the usual loop. But yeah, super stoked. I'm still piddling w/ some more shots but here are the ones that I liked so far.

Nikon D80 w/ MB-D80 Grip
Nikon 18-200mm VR

i used my wife's D80 to take pics inside the shop, I was not impressed- do you think I need a better flash then whats built onto the camera? Maybe I had it on the wrong settings?

You weren't shooting on Auto were you? (not trying to be a jerk but it's a legitimate concern) I rarely use the flash built into my D80, the only time it sees use is to remote trigger my SB-800. The camera really doesn't come into its own until you dive in and really adjust all the settings like ISO, white balance, shutter speed, and aperture. Even then lots of great photos you see usually have a lot of post production put into them.

I like to shoot straight from the camera, barely adjust color and then upload them. CS3 owns me. Sorry for the rant......

Uh oh..... What are you upgrading too? I've been shopping around for ages, probably end up with a D2x or D300. I've got a soft spot for them big bodies though.

the most expensive high quality gazillion MP DSLR in the world won't make you a good photographer. Cars are actually quite difficult to photograph nicely compared to a lot of objects. especially indoors.

hit your local library or Barnes and Noble, tons and tons and tons of reading on this.

lots of forums full of helpful people too, flickr groups, etc. if you are serious about learning ****. if you don't want to bother get a nice point and shoot.
