Started detailing..will be long

I have the whole week off work, so I'm probably gonna do a lil bit of the car each day. Started off tonight with the left fender, front bumper and part of the spraybombed hood. Now, it seems like this left fender, and the drivers door are about 3x more heavily marred than the rest of the paint on the car for some reason, and even more oddly enough for black single stage paint, it was rock HARD!

I started off with wool via rotary and Megs #83, and Hi Temp Extreme Cut, 5-6 times and it barely did anything to it!! Finished up with a LC VCC polishing pad and OP, threw some RMG on it and topped it with S100 and called it a night for now. Its a big improvement, but still, I probably only got 75% of the marring out.
Befores

Bumper was oxidized and is spidering

Hood was oxidized (it was also spraybombed black from red)

Bumper half way done, noticeable difference.

damn, i used to do detailing for toyota. we always had a saying "black can be your best friend or worst enemy. its your best friend when its clean and fresh, worse enemy when it leaves the shop"
good luck, i hate black, love black cars, but hate working with the color.
looks good so far, good job

peace

Did the left side today, wheels are off and the back jacked up cus I was cleaning and painting my hubs + rear calipers, as well as trying to install my racing beat rear camber adjuster.

Process I used for this side was
Wash
Clay
Megs #83 on a wool pad via rotary x2 on a couple panels
Optimum Polish on a white LC CCS pad via rotary
S100 as a topper

You can see how different the door and the rest of the car look in their pre-polished state for some reason.

Hellz yea the CCS pads kick ***. I don't have a rotary buffer but I also got some pretty good results with a PC, CCS pads, Menzerna Intensive Polish and Final Polish II.

I went on vacation and left my car in the driveway and wasn't smart enough to give it any form of protection while it sat there so I ended up with this.

During

After

Cleaned up before wax

As of right now my fav wax technique is a bottom layer of Mothers FX and a top layer of Meguiars NXT. Very awesome results.

Damn, how long did you go on vacation for?!

I've always wanted to try Nattys to see this ultimate depth that everyone raves about, but never really went ahead and ordered some...Maybe I will now.
