slowest build thread ever

Thought its about time I started my first build thread. This is my first ever car build (bolt-on parts do not constitute a "build") so progress has been at a snail's pace

Planned use for the car is drifting and some road racing. Strip as much weight out as possible BUT keep enough amenities (heat/ac/ps) so I can drive it to and from the track.

Ok so here we go...starting off with a 1986 base model (hardtop) with 117k miles on her.

Pics from the day I got her

Ugh..burgundy interior..i puke everytime i see this

Making room for the LS1

Stripping out the interior

Ooo...dry ice

Sound deadening is a BITCH to remove. Dry ice only helped in certain areas...removal in other spots required angle grinder, wire wheel, and a lot of swearing

Ended up taking it down to bare metal to get every last bit out sound deadening out..probably overkill at this point

Used a spot weld removal bit to remove the spot welds on the rear speaker towers.

Sprayed some primer and paint on the bare metal portions -- interior currently

Will update periodically...car will be shipped out for roll cage shortly.

ha, im sorta at the same spot as you, minus the gay ls1, im doing a 13brew in mine.
i have the interior stripped, waiting for some cash flow for the engine and roll cage, and suspension.
what all are your plans as far as suspension and body modification?

Don't care for the el-ess-juan, but nice work.

Good luck with the build.
