Correction, 10AEs are our cars.

Just kidding, I really don't care either way. Clean SAs, FBs, and FDs will be the only RX-7s collectors will care for.

This is most probably true. The FC didn't get a very warm reception when it came out in '85. Most people said it either looked too much like a 944 or looked like it was made up from styling bits leftover from the Camaro, Daytona, and other cars of the day. It will always be the second-class citizen of RX-7s. That said, the 10AE will always have some kind of following.

Just to clarify my earlier comments, I wasn't suggesting that removing the moldings or original mirrors would destroy the value of a priceless collectible, but I think it is true that a clean 10AE is worth at least a few hundred dollars more than a similar '88 TII to many buyers. It's worth keeping the original parts in a cardboard box in your basement to not lose that few hundred dollars when you go to resell the car.

Also, I don't personally care what the OP does with his car either. But he was asking for opinions...

in my opinion the stock 10ae wheels are UGLY, i dont care if they are 16" id rather go to 15" of clean meshies than some butt ugly wheels. i got the 10ae at a deal. i doubt that our 10aes will ever become a rarity. just go to the classifieds and u will see one go for 1900....some collector car. have u ever seen a black 10ae? id have to say its super clean.

lol... The S4 T2 wheels aren't esp. pretty in general. [Too much flat space for me] but on the 10AE I think it works because of the matching.

Pretty sure 10AEs are already a rarity at 1500 produced... If any FC will be collectable it'll be this one.
Locally I haven't seen any 10AEs lately and if they're running they're more than an equivalent T2 [usually about $2300 on CL]

On the note of the black one, I imagine it would be pretty cool looking..

There were no black 10AEs from the factory. If you painted a 10AE black, it would pretty much look like any other black S4 TII, only with the black 10AE interior, bronze tinted glass and 10AE emblems if you left them on. I like black FCs so that would look good I guess, but it wouldn't really look much like a 10AE anymore.

Agreed the S4 TII wheels are a bit dull by current standards. In the 80s when these cars were new, minimizing drag was cool so having flat, featureless wheels was the in-thing. You saw similar wheels on the Trans Am, the Supra, and a bunch of other cars back then.

^ Makes sense because there were a lot of fugly wheels in the 80s. At least we don't have hubcaps though

Compared with some of the clothes we wore in the 80s, the wheels weren't really that bad...
