side moldings opinion
i need help...how do i remove my sidemoldings on my s4. im scared of damaging them. but also i was thinking of painting them black (i have a 10ae and its too much white) so what kind of paint should i use. i was thinking of usng wrinkle paint to give it like a rubbery texture kind of. or should i go for the glossy look? and paint them and going over with a coat of clear. any opinions will be appreciated. pics also to help me decide what to do

now why would you go and do that to a 10thAE?
|
If I were you, I'd remove the existing white moldings and save them in a safe place and replace with stock S4's you can get for cheat at any pic a part yard. That way when you realize later on you kind of messed up the value of your 10AE by going black, you can go back.
As far as removing them check out the body section of a FSM you can download from a link you'll find in the Icemark stickies at the top of the 2nd Gen section. |

lol its just HELLA WHITE. white body white wheels white moldings. i mean white is a perfect color and all. but i mean i personally think itll look better with some kind of black offset. but hozzman has a point, so ill prolly just buy a set thats black already. lol i just might replace these aero mirrors for stock ones too because i think the aeros look ugly. kinda ricey but thats just me =P

ruin a 10ae... you will get butt raped by fc owners.
but whatever floats you boat i guess. |
Sell the 10th AE for a profit, buy white S4 TII (has what you desire).
|
leave the moldings white, change the tail lights and wheels and just store the stock parts.
|
Change your wheels it will make a big difference.
|
black set of wats will set you str8! lol dont paint the trim ;)
|
you remove them with heat, they are only held in with adhesive.
The side markers have clips and the markers themselves. bumpers are obviously part of the bumper no wrinkle finish- thats just horrible I would just paint the ones you have considering to do a full change you have to do the bumpers, so if someone wants them white again they can scuff and shoot them. I would not even take them off the car if you are painting them, just leave them on there and mask the car off. I did 2 S4s this method. If you do remove and store the original moldings MAKE SURE they are laying flat, put them between some rigid cardboard or something, if they are not stored totally flat they WILL take the shape and be very hard to get straight again. |

This is true, I've had my drivers door trim clamped to a table for months, still trying to get certian parts flat and straight.

lol well im trying to get some vert wheels. i like the s4 taillights, at first i didnt but it grew on to me. the cars boxy so it only looks right if the taillights are too. lol alright fine the moldings will stay white.

|
Vert wheels ? :dunno: You seem to be very found of regress....
|
Rattle can your 10AE tail lights, wheels, and side moldings bright purple. It will transform the look of your car and you'll never have to remove a piece.

...lol i just might replace these aero mirrors for stock ones too because i think the aeros look ugly. kinda ricey but thats just me =P Incidentally, the aero mirrors were stock. The S4 aero mirrors are smaller and a bit squarer-looking than the S5 ones, but that's another part you'll want to put away if you replace them to preserve the car's value in case you ever want to resell it. |
Lol:lol: at all the people saying it will devalue the car. It's not like collectors are drooling for 10th AE's. I haven't seen any 10th AE's at Barret Jackson recently either. I say paint it. I had thought about doing the same thing to mine.

Also, there's no reason to buy a 10AE if you don't want it super white. It makes literally no sense [unless a good deal falls on you, in which case you can still just turn it and get at stock T2 ^_-] |
Post a picture dumbass. Lol
|
jesus its just paint, is it any worse then the white cars out there with paint peeling off in sheets?
do what you want with the car |
He can do whatever he wants with his car. These cars may never become collectible, so despite heat from purists, it may really never devalue the car. I'd never start painting stuff on a 10th AE, but I guess I'm one of those purists I just spoke of.
The question remains though, if you thought it was too "hella white", how did you end up with a 10th AE in the first place? And aside from the white around the taillights and the stock white wheels, color wise, the 10th AE matches what S5s looked like with body colored moldings. Finally, as nice as the BBS convertible wheels are, you realize that's a downgrade from a 16" wheel to a 15", right? |
i can see the wheels and the tailights getting on my nerves real quick
maybe the guy just likes the style, and price, of the vert wheels maybe his intention from the start was to change the car a little bit to get rid of some of the white, who cares its his car |
