Satin Black Paint

I have been looking for some good looking pictures of some FC's painted in a Satin/flat finish. Mostly interested in Black, but anything will do.

Something like this.

Moar pics

The camera can never justify the sheen

i would recomend adding a flattening agent to the clear coat. UV rays will eat up paint and after a few months it will be very faded

one question about satin.. does dirt and grime wash off like a standard paint job?? ive never seen a satin paint job up close.. so im wondering if keeping it clean is different.. or harder

i want to paint my fc a satin color too so. just tryin to see whats up.

and the black is sexy!

hypertek. i think your cars just painted with a black primer sealer.. its not satin.. so yeah.. unless the found a matte...but still think its primer.

although i like the way a part is left the oe color. its a nice change from just all one color or a two tone top to bottom

All the satin look is, is a Flattener mixed in with the clear coat. Its not rough to the touch like a primer-ed car, so the paint acts just like normal paint. I don't remember if your supposed to wax it, but you could.

Tcpglobal sells a paint by kustom shop called hot rod flats or something like that. It comes in a variety of colors including pearls. Their pretty reasonable on pricing. You guys should check em out.

Flat black looks as though there is little to no clear coat(dull). Gloss black is shiny black.

don't paint your car flat/satin.

how coarse the surface is determines how "flat" or how much "shine" a surface is.

The reason you see nasty *** mexican patchy flat black cars, is because some parts of the surface have become smoother than others, causing it to be patchy.

the two cars in this thread that look good have a thin layer of vinyl stretched and formed over the entire car. The vinyl does not change its surface texture as easily, and therefore can be cleaned, abused, and washed without changing the surface as drastically.

No they dont lol.....

Wen you see a vehicle thats done right with the flat look its because wen the clear coat was sprayed, they added a flattening agent (no glossy clear coat) . U still get the smooth feel of clear coat pertection against uv rays ect, but its been dulled and does not shine or show any gloss ect.

I painted my dash and then cleared it, it was way to glossy wen driving (coldnt see wen sun was out) so i scuffed it up and added flattening agent to my clear resprayd it and walla! My dash doesnt blind me as much wen the sun is out... Fyi my dash is white...

You're dash is not a high-wear surface. Trust me, do it right with vinyl. It's not expensive...
