Radio Bracket Ideas?

Hey guys i just picked up a 1988 rx7 a few days ago. It didnt come with a radio but iv got a nice one to put in. Theres two slots open for a radio.. Which means there will be a big open space after i install mine.. I have no clue if that was the stock setup and was supposed to have something else in that 2nd slot or if this is an after market piece. Any ideas or info on this? Heres a pic! Kinda dark but you get the idea. Thanks!

these cars had optional radios, you could get plain jane or cd, cass and eq

maybe put a nice double din radio in, if I had no gauges I would do it

that's what it should look like, but if you can't find the little storage bottom part you can also block it off with thick plastic. like people said above some put gauges there but if you don't have any just leave it blocked of.

That, or it had a am/fm/cd/cassette player w/o the equalizer, like mine did. Just as big though.

Just go to best buy or something and get an install kit. It comes with a pocket, or you can opt to close it off. Whatever you want. Crutchfield also GIVES them away when you buy a head unit from them.

Mine has a boost gage and wideband display.

Take no notice of the SAFC... it's not there anymore.
I've never seen a setup like you have (the space split into two) so it may be aftermarket. Then again, it may be one of the myriad of options Mazda offered.

I just made this up after seeing a few people just add a plastic piece to cover the hole. Its just temp for now untill i find the little storage pieces or a stock insert because this one cant be stock..

i like that better than what i have, the little pocket can't hold anything good and i tried putting my phone once.It just flew out when i entered the freeway lol. gauges look nice there. if i had the extra money i would put a touch screen navigation like those new cars.
