Out of all the cars I've owned and all the motors I've played with. The RB20 has been my favourite.
It's neither the lightest, prettiest, most powerful, most efficient or the most anything but it displays all the characteristics that that I love.
the exhaust note that my last 240SX (car in my sig at SMP) produced with a 3.25" Apexi DP mated to a Apexi 3.25" Dual back section sent chills up my spine. I love that motor and am really looking forward to the FCRB car. The sound that the car made at 8300RPM next to the wall coming out of the last turn at Cayuga at full lock in second, then shifting through the gears to the top of 4th made me giddy EVERY LAP!!!!
An FC with a built RB20DET with PON Cams and a knife edged crank is my idea of a good efffin time. that's my dream car and you know what????? Its EASILY affordable and achievable and I can't wait to do it!!!! (It's nice to have lowered expectations, aspirations and goals in life.
I'm easily pleased, content and amused.)Then, when money gets REAL good later on in life. Imma build an FC with a 1UZ. Mark my words. It will be done at some point by me.

having modist goals can be the best because they ARE atainable, same goes for my measly 300hp i whish out of 13bt. its not breaking any records, but its practical and fun!

cv-pros are the same thing as gr-c the center cap is the only difference but you are not using them probably because you don't have the right lug nuts. Do a quick search on google and you will notice that used ones are selling for 500 to 600.
i mean i can get you another set if you want a local guy is selling his for the price of 600.

I originally mentioned the wheels in a post trying to make a point about how $1200 isn't that much to spend when you're building a nice car.
I SHOULD have wrote. "When the wheels were BRAND NEW they cost about $1800 plus $600 in tires."
The WHOLE POINT was about $1200 not being that much. (though, I don't even know what kind of aluminum common - VERY common off the shelf aftermarket heads for a 302 cost $1200-$1400 as stated by Gear Grinder)
Then you came along saying how I got jipped for $1800 and how I probably don't even have the common sense to run a proper lug nut setup. Ooooooo, a whopping $40. I have no idea why you would say that first of all. Second of all, out of all the posts I made in this thread, the ONE thing you have to contribute is how I got gipped, how my wheels are actually $600 all day long and how I probably am too cheap to buy tuner lugs that would work with my wheels.

Was your intention to tell me how I could have saved some money? Was your intention to be such a super duper nice guy as to offer to pick up a set of wheels all the way down there, just for me? Were you gonna front the money for me too? Were you gonna pay the extra 400-1200 for a good set of tires for me first too? Was your intention to remind people that when using aftermarket wheels such as Volk, Works, AME, Enkei, CCW, BBS, OZ, Impul R, Bee*R, Nismo, SSR etc.... that we should run tuner lugs so that a lug nut or centre cap would actually FIT???? In case we forgot? I mean c'mon, afterall, people who shell out 4 digits just for wheels wouldn't have the sense to run tuner lugs without reminders....right?

Ronnie- I understand due to the oil pump and pickup location SBFs cant fit as low as Chev V8s- Your handling still seems the same to you?
I know SBFs better than most engines, therefore have always been reluctant to go the Chev route as I have had no dealings with them, but I heard the Fords cant sit low under a FC hood. Hmm...
One thing that I HAVE noticed is there is more chassis flew over bumps and there is more bumpsteer.
That could be due to the lack of a sway bar in the front or the lack of some roll centre adjusters after significant lowering.
You can run an oil pan from a lincoln or a crown vic to get more clearance and mount a little lower.

Apologies for my seemingly ignorant response. I just thought I read that you were saying anything over 350whp was impossible with the motor. Well, without it splitting in half. I'm also a little confused by you saying you can't push more than 300 flywheel with gt40 heads. I dunno.

firstly, awsome pics, man. jealous, as i coudnt take a good photo if my life depended on it. also, while i wouldn't chuck a v8 in a mazda, i must say that under 4000rpm, my car feels much like my old 1200cc corolla!!! can see where you're coming from in wanting a bit of torque!! don't take it all to heart man, at the end of it all, it's just a forum, and you build cars for yourself, not the masses!!! beautiful car, by the way.

Yessir!!! I just found out that's what it was. It came with it! It will be up for sale soon, going with something more aggressive! I'm adding a S13 lip to the front to finish off the finish line kit for now though.
Thats the next powerplant. Then I'll have TWO RB20 FC's. One vert and one hard top. Yeah, radek and Johm will be doing some work on this car for me. Adam will be doing the cage too. Fixed now,Hahahha, that's happened to me before too. "your car fits the description of......"

thanks for the compliments everyone! I've put a lot of sweat into this car and will continue to build it up! It will be a very nice, fun package all round car by the end of the summer.
Going to focus very strong on updating the chassis. I sometimes forget that this car is 22 years old. along with that comes 22 year old bushings, mounts and ugh....rust.
Will keep people updated and some will like it, some will hate...more will hate! Thats ok. I like the car and that's what matters and some people will get the pleasure of ripping on it too!
Seriously, if I ever run into any of you or if you guys ever come to Toronto, look me up and feel free to rip on a V8 7!

Just an update:
Fixed the belt, rerouted it and found the pulleys to be slightly out of alignement causing more stress on the belt. rearranged, fired it up and all of a sudden lost all fuel pressure. FML.
Traced it back to the fuel pump, put direct power onto the fuel pump and got nothing, ordered a Walbro 255 and will be putting in tomorrow.
Meanwhile, went to go change the diff into the car and broke some bolts. Lovely. Looked at diff mount bushings and they were garbage. So I ordered a full set of Energy Poly Bushings. Should tighten the car up a lot....22 year old rubber is scary to think of.
One belt......turns into all this.....bah. The life of a car nut.
PS: Also snagged a killer deal on some G35 wheels for today to use as more drift spares and found a GREAT deal on a PAIR of Work Equips made by Impul R. (knockoffs are okay when made by Impul, Bee R* etc.... I think. )
Will post more pics with the new shoes and when it breaks down on the test run because I suck at working on cars.
PS: Oh, and turboIIrotary.....I still can't believe how much a ******* goof you sound like. You behave like a petulant brat. (I realize that I am doing the same thing...but that's okay, cuz I AM a petulant brat!!!!)

What does that come to? Wheels alone. $2680 plus tax, plus shipping, etc....PLUS TIRES. So add another $800-$2000 depending on what you care to spend on new stuff.
So we're looking at AT LEAST $3480 plus taxes and shipping for them. brand new. I think I got a KILLER deal at $1000 CANADIAN with almost new tires! Dont you think? Or do those numbers STILL not add up to you?
Are you still willing to pick the $600 set up for me as I really want another pair for drift spares!!!

Well man the car looks good even if it has a 302 Ford in it. LOL No really if it works for you then that's all that matters right. On the wheels nice find, a $1000 for a set with tires is not bad IMO.

Traced it back to the fuel pump, put direct power onto the fuel pump and got nothing, ordered a Walbro 255 and will be putting in tomorrow.
Meanwhile, went to go change the diff into the car and broke some bolts. Lovely. Looked at diff mount bushings and they were garbage. So I ordered a full set of Energy Poly Bushings. Should tighten the car up a lot....22 year old rubber is scary to think of.
One belt......turns into all this.....bah. The life of a car nut.
PS: Also snagged a killer deal on some G35 wheels for today to use as more drift spares and found a GREAT deal on a PAIR of Work Equips made by Impul R. (knockoffs are okay when made by Impul, Bee R* etc.... I think. )
Will post more pics with the new shoes and when it breaks down on the test run because I suck at working on cars.
PS: Oh, and turboIIrotary.....I still can't believe how much a ******* goof you sound like. You behave like a petulant brat. (I realize that I am doing the same thing...but that's okay, cuz I AM a petulant brat!!!!)
I made a mistake, they're worth a lot more than 2400 new with tires.
they're $670.00 A PIECE with no tires.
What does that come to? Wheels alone. $2680 plus tax, plus shipping, etc....PLUS TIRES. So add another $800-$2000 depending on what you care to spend on new stuff.
So we're looking at AT LEAST $3480 plus taxes and shipping for them. brand new. I think I got a KILLER deal at $1000 CANADIAN with almost new tires! Dont you think? Or do those numbers STILL not add up to you?
Are you still willing to pick the $600 set up for me as I really want another pair for drift spares!!!

Fixed the belt, rerouted it and found the pulleys to be slightly out of alignement causing more stress on the belt. rearranged, fired it up and all of a sudden lost all fuel pressure. FML.

cv-pros are the same thing as gr-c the center cap is the only difference but you are not using them probably because you don't have the right lug nuts. Do a quick search on google and you will notice that used ones are selling for 500 to 600.
