Looks good so far I can't wait to do mine. Which port template did you get? Did you buy your rebuild kit yet? And if so how much and where. I have been looking and the lowest i found it was around $1200.

Both those cars have the same kit. The light green car is the Foresight demo car. I have that kit and I just paid a fortune to get it shipped from Japan, but now I have to sell it! Nice build, post up some pics of the RE porting when you have a chance.

thanks. i used an oldschool 4 port template, because the banzai one i borrowed was tooooooooo small of a port for what i wanted...

i bought a lot of parts for rebuild seperate, because my apex seals are still with in spec off the t2 motor, the motor was rebuilt but coolant seal blew so the apex seals only have a week of use...

1200 isnt bad for a rebuild kit... were did you see that at??

Updates Updates Updates

here ya go... well basically on thursday i had to tear the motor to the bear block outside in front of my house. parents were having a bbq at the time..
heres some pics of that.. lol.

(funny thing about that is, that cops drove by looking at me take this motor apart and gave me funny looks along with my neighbors...)

i also want to note that it was my first time tearing down an RE, soo i took my time to look at were vac hoses were hooked up to, etc.. and i got distracted by ppl looking at me and asking questions about what i was doing lol

The tear down

cleaned off a **** load of gunk, oil,etc.....

i think i did a good job,.. still gotta clean everything off better though.. what do you think??

you can see the difference it made to clean everything lool

Another thing i notice that was strange while i was cleaning off the housings was that on both housings they were Stamped rear..

which was strange to me.. why would the Cosmo Run 2 rear housings?? ]
any idea (maybe it was rebuilt?)

Question REAR ROTOR is blown!?!?!??!?!

so the very next day we checked the Rotors.......... the "Rotary-Ferry" noticed, something about the rear rotor and housing....

apearently theres a small crack on the rear rotor

<a href="http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b339/beneathxdyingxskies/RE%20REBUILD/?action=view&current=087.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b339/beneathxdyingxskies/RE%20REBUILD/087.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Rear housing

sooo my question is... do you guys think the rear housing and rotor are fucked???

since noticing that.. ive decided to run my S5 T2 rotors/ internals/ housings, with the RE irons and manifolds.....

should work out fine

Both Motors are currently sitting in my room waiting to be cleaned out more this week lol along with many other parts for my build...

ill post more updates tomorrow

this is a great build. i love it. and i love the fact that you're doing it all yourself. that means the most to me. can't wait to see your final product. also, i'm jobless at the moment, too, but keep your chin up. things usually have to get pretty bad before you can appreciate them.

[QUOTE=zerox7;8817377]

i can tell that there is some different in the oil pump area, but i can't confirm (from the photo) that the RE oil pump is the same as the T2. i remember reading a while ago that they are the same, but is it? if so, what exactly are the differences that the photo shows?

thanks.

Wow, I didn't realize how large the intake ports were on the RE until you compared them with your streetported T2 intake ports! Holy cow!

by the way, i think i figured out what the differences are. i made some crude measurements on the photo and it looks like passages are larger, but the bolt pattern is the same. thanks anyway.

however, you can correct me if i'm wrong.

THANKS ALOT BRO i love the support... glad to see your on the same page, it sucks, but you do what you can to survive..

i rather do this all on my own, it only benifits me more. and its loads of fun too

and it makes me appriciate my car and build even more..

i know theres ppl who have theyre cars built by others...

but i know whats done exactly to the motor and car,

when you do everything yourself, it doesnt compare....

there is a few differences, but for the most part its the same thing, the s5 t2 front cover bolts on to the re just fine

for the most part the water passages are the same. one thing is that the RE irons are thicker... but for the most part its the same thing as the t2 iron..

im not tooo sure i could be wrong as well.. im still learning about the RE.. hard to find good info on it...

heres some small difference circled in red... might not be something major but yea lol.

Looks like some of the nickel sized circles in the cast irons are support for the tension rods to keep the block from flexing and added strength.
