Project Scarlett: GTUs turbo build, 400rwhp?

firs off i wana thank you for opening up the thread. wanna say that you can either love it or hate it & any feed back is more then welcomed here.

Right now i Currently have a 1990 GTUs that I Turbo ll swapped(complete drive train and all). When i finished doing my swap, my coolant seal blew in the rear housing, and i lost compression as well. never even got to enjoy the car. only drove like 2 miles on it.

so i decided to build the car that i always wanted and do most of the work myself to save money & learn as i go. so here it goes.

my plan: Build a 400RWHP ROTARY BEAST for track/weekend warrior. do the rebuild myself and porting, install my T70,Get my V-mount fabricated, & Buy an Apexi Power FC standalone . (theres plenty more things to list, but ill list it as i go)

Quick list of mods/ parts i have for the car:
-Megan Racing Track series coilovers
-Energy suspension
-SS oil lines,(plan on getting ss lines for everything else)
-Bride bucket seats,x2
-koyo dual pass rad
-rear cusco strut bar
-RE-Amemiya front strut bar
-Old school HKS Boost gauge
-HKS bov for my vmount set up
-O.S. Giken twin plate clutch
-ZERO emissions.

theres some more, but cant remember at the moment.

Since the motor blew, Priority #1 for me is to do my rebuild.

the story behind my motor: I bought the s5 t2 motor from some guy in Vegas, the motor was "rebuilt"(how good was the rebuild? shitty). but had great compression at first.

So far i took the motor apart today, to see what things i need to i need to buy/upgrade(solid corner seals etc) and to see why the motor blew.

so when my friend and I opened the motor, we found that the rear coolant seal was torn. and i also found 2 leaves inside the water jackets?? wtf. idk how that got in there, i guess when the previous shop rebuilt it, they left leaves fall in or something.

but heres some pics, enjoy.

Home made MOTOR CRATE! FTW!

TOyota??

A leaf that was in the coolant jacket.

pretty much what i done so far today was tear the motor apart and see the damage.

Tomorrow my friend is going to be cleaning off the housings/irons/rotors, and measuring that nothing is warped, etc..

keep in mind, my friend and I are doing my whole build alone.

ill post more pics and updates tomorrow and as the days go on.

thanks

forget to mention, im buy an over size stud kit from mazdatrix as well, i dont want the motor flexing or warping under high boost.

"Oversized Kit

The High Strength Oversized stud kit eliminates the need for doweling the engine block. All studs act as dowels which massively increases torsionial strength 70%. Rotor housing deflection reduced - increases apex seal life. Less material machined from housings and plates than with doweling, reducing the possibility of cracking. High boost engine expansion reduced. Studs are less prone to stretching under high boost applications. More accurate tensioning of engine. Less chance of bolt breakage. High quality 12-point nuts rated at 180,000 PSI tensile strength. Studs manufactured from 4140 chrome moly, heat treated, centreless ground and black oxided. Engine must be accurately drilled, reamed and tapped to give 0.2mm clearance.

*Note: The standard factory manual flywheel cannot be used with the Stud Kit. "

Part Name Description Part Number Price
ENG STUD KIT 13B OVERSIZE 13B-STUDKIT-OS $481.00

ZERO-best of luck and just remember that when in doubt use new parts. from the Poor *** pictures the internals looks good with minimum damage. After the car is running, two things are inevitable in the quest for POWER.
1st: Mad knowledge of the Rotary Engine
2nd: How To or not to rebuild and 400RWHP Beast.
be patient and and get all into the rebuild(don't skip any steps)

Best of luck and keep us posted.
