Question Picture Request - Gutted Interior / Custom Dashboard

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone drives with a gutted interior, meaning no carpet/dash if so how do you feel about driving it? Also I was thinking about doing a custom aluminum dash maybe a drift style dashboard, anybody has a custom dashboard they would like to post up? Thanks

If it is still a street car don't gut your car unless you love sitting in hot noise places full of death fumes

Still a work in progress. Much wiring and sound deadening to be removed yet, and then I need to flock the dash.

i took out the back portion of my 240sx interior and kept it like that for years thinking it was cool.

now my rx7 has full interior and i really appreciate it. It is just not worth it on a street car.. and i think seeing a modified car with a super clean full interior is awesome.

I kinda laugh when i see friend's stock cars and the first mod they thought would be cool is remove the interior.

This.

I see it as being quite stupid, unless its a dedicated track car.

You really appreciate a full interior while you're waiting for the tow truck, lol.

I love having gutted interior. The simplicity is awesome and I think it's looks good. I don't daily my car though, it's mostly just a track car. It's sucks to daily with. Sun just bakes through the roof.

^ Soooo... Having a door panel on one side and nothing on the other looks "good"? Remind me to never let you hook me up on a blind date.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I would never remove any interior from a car I ever planned on driving on the streets. A track only car - all bets are off, obviously.

Not particularly helpful or anything, but this guys car has to be one of the better stripped down interiors : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2Oliq1znfk

As said before, different strokes, but when I see a gutted interior on the street its usually because the interior they previously had looked like **** and there was no money to fix and they thought ricey would somehow be a better look. It's never pulled off well without a budget.

I did it for a while and I don't recommend it. Fumes and noise not good.

my interior's gutted. i have 2 seats and a dash (sorry no pic's). i've had my interior gutted for a couple of years now. it doesn't bother me and i daily drive my car. im building the car for the track and driving it on the street. but with no ac, heat, defrosters, solid motor, trans subframe and diff mounts with an un-sprung 6 puck clutch, there really isn't any comfort there.it was worth the weight savings. it really makes me appreciate my brothers full interior fc more though. i like the interior for it's completeness and love my gutted fc for its "strictly business" feel. my fc is currently in the process of waiting for it's new motor (4 port bridge port high revving na). i say if you have intentions of tracking your fc non turbo then gut that bitch! but if your planning to boost then keep the interior, you can make up the difference in weight with another half pound of boost lol.

i've been debating an aluminum dash but can't find any pics of one that keeps the switches (the only one i cannot work around is the turn signals witch, i wish our turn signal switch was on the column. anyone know of a column style turn signal switch that could be modded on)

You can wire up a turn signal setup easily. It;s basically a 3 way switch with a mechanism to switch it back to neutral by itself.

I have never drive the car without interior such as carpet, dashboard etc. I think it give bad feeling if you drive a car without interior.

No. Carpet, sound deadening, ac, heater, or any of the bits behind the dash, radio or speakers, backseat. With the addition of aftermarket seats, steering wheel, gauges, relocated battery and fully repainted interior. I love it. Nothing to complain about.
